I'm 31, a civilian, and looking for a career change. I've always wanted to fly in the military. I've been working on a WOFT packet, and I did very well on the SIFT. I'm ready to start the journey, just working on some very minor issues to get the packet submitted. I'd love to make connections in the community and dive into the culture.

Prior service active duty soldier here, did six and a half years in the infantry. Got out, fell in love with flying and immediately started clawing my way back in. Finally got back in with the guard this past October and reclassed as a helicopter repairer / crew chief. I am currently in the process of getting everything squared away for a WOFT board this summer. Took the SIFT, did the physical, just getting paperwork ready at this point really. These videos have been a good source of info. I appreciated them and it’s been fun to watch you transition from a marine veteran civilian to a WO in your guard unit, mustache and all.

Man, watching your videos has been so dang helpful. I’m 27 in CA, been working random jobs that don’t bring any lasting fulfillment. Feel like after I gave up on pursuing law enforcement I lost alot of my purpose (career speaking). I worked in the jails for a short time at my local s/o and it just burnt me out man. WOFT has always appealed to me. Even being able to transfer helicopter flying to the civilian side through EMS work is pretty sweet too.I’ve reached out to my states warrant officer strength manager in times past and a few other guys out of state too. Street to seat seems to be that illusory slot but exists for those who put the effort in finding it. I have a small aviation background, solo’d and got enough training for my PPL checkride but ended up not completing it due to finances. Anways, kind’ve rambling here man, but just hoping and praying the Lord truly opens the right doors. Love the videos and updates, keep pushing 🤙

I’m 31 and ship out feb 18th. I wanted to submit a waft packet but I feel like my recruiter didn’t want to deal with all the paperwork. They told me I could drop a packet once at AIT. Being older I’ve had many options in life, if I wanted to be a pilot I could have gone to commercial school. I want to fly for the army, bottom line. I want to make my career in the army. Can someone help me and point me in the right direction.

Hey! I've been watching your videos because I'm interested. I'm a firefighter currently and I'm 36. I know the age limit is 33. I'm interested in taking the street to seat route as I was never enlisted. I have a wife and 3 kids that I may be leaving behind. My concern is to be away a lot during the training. I was wondering how often do you get to go home and for how long? Can I reasonably expect a few days to a week every couple of months?
@codywaldrop72732 ай бұрын
How do I get over the hurdle of my age? I am a 34 year old civilian pilot with a couple hundred hours. I have passed my sift with a great score. Everyone I talk just gets hung up on my age. I’m putting my packet together but the states I talk to don’t seem optimistic. Should I go active or reserve?
@merrittorius2 ай бұрын
@codywaldrop7273 To be very honest I have no idea other than to keep calling and stay in their ear. See if you can get someone high ranking in the local command to vouche for you and force the issue that will help. If you're squared away, in shape/healthy, competent with education and experience, and motivated for the long haul, there's absolutely no reason why a couple years should affect the decision. Just keep pushing and calling and praying if you're into that. I know Guard is more receptive. Don't be afraid to call other branches as well. All kinds of reserves, guards, and random units. You never know. Good luck.

I don't know if your still obsessed with the Notifs but I'm currently trying to study for the SIFT and I never studied in high school so its like I've shot myself in the foot since I don't know an effective way to study. how would you recommend to study for this test. I have picked up the Red study guide you have.
@merrittorius2 ай бұрын
@qyu_7861 I stay obsessed with the Notifs. I'll be straight up with you, I didn't do well in high-school and I didn't study too much. I did however go back to college after the Marines and developed habits that worked for me. You'll have to figure out what works for you in this process. The SIFT is kind of the beginning of it all but it's pretty much an individual effort so you gotta become "obsessed" and dig deep. Give yourself months to study and hit it hard. Read, take notes, build flashcards, take the practice tests multiple multiple times, watch other videos, and most IMPORTANTLY don't have any regrets on your effort when you show up to take the test. Good luck and God Bless

Very excited for this opportunity to become an Army Aviator, especially as a warrant. Im extremely curious/anxious to see how coming out of BCT as a fresh PFC (E3) and rolling into WOCS is going to be with having much more tenured service members in my class.
