There 6 different narrators on Audiobook for Blue Castle, but for me none of them capture Valancy like Lindsay Stuart. Love this version.

I love this chapter very much. Barney is mysterious, but very cool in the way he protects Balancy.

These chapters are ruined with terrible loud commercials. Way to go KZbin.

I feel like Barney beginning his next book with something he’d once said to Valancy shows he was already planning to tell her about his secret identity. ❤

All was foreshadowed when Barney threw the Redfern’s bottle out! …. And he bought her a $1500 necklace (in 1920s $) but she still doubted he was in love with her!

So much foreshadowing in this chapter!

One of the BEST “marriage of convenience” stories ever! I love that Valancy proposed to him!

Valancy is perhaps my favorite LMM heroine. Emily of New Moon hides under the table to listen to what the Murray clan will decide to do with her and THINKS all kinds of zings about them (If I ever get a pig, I will name it after you), but Valancy SAYS them all out loud. And I love listening to her take all her relatives down!! Thanks for reading, I’m so happy to revisit this book on my commute.

Hollywood, you can keep your 90lb. action heroines who somehow punch out men three times their size. Valancy is a _real_ BAMF girl!

I am relating to Valency waaaay too much. When she said the rose bush was hers, I felt the pure suppressed rage slipping through her clenched teeth.

Not even 2 minutes in. And feeling so called out. I turn 29 this year. I've never gone on a date. I've never even been asked on a date. Oh goodness. This book is gonna hurt isn't it?

what a lovely ending to this story! Now if the town then could be more accepting of those of all walks of life. To see the danger of judging a book by its cover. This book may have been a stepping stone to "old maids" being referred to as single women, and all girls encouraged to prepare for independence, whether they marry or not, or if their husbands die, or whatever circumstances. "Different kinds of loveliness." Thank you @Very Nice Deer for your reading

Now this is revealing! Olive and Cecil are still not married. They've been waiting for over a year for a contract. He's probably got some interesting secrets of his own......

More truth comes out. Intensity, and then beauty, and then I'd be crying happy tears. Uncle Benjamin remains so superficial; only putting her back in his will because she married a millionaire unknowingly?
@quinoasongs25072 жыл бұрын
Yes, grief in its finest. "Why can't I die?"
@quinoasongs25072 жыл бұрын
Uncle Benjamin's contradictory shamings. He was just mad that Valancy seemed happier than ever, then he shames Amelia for "holding her down" when last year he shamed her for not being strict enough. The only good thing is he confessed that he should stop calling her Doss. And Valancy's ponderings of wondering if the Prodigal Son ever really felt at home again. Which probably depended on the older brother......and what's Uncle Benjamin doing there at that time anyway; shouldn't he be running his grocery store?

Ah, it's so sad. Except, learning he is John Foster.
