I tried it just like you said on my model # 505-637-50 and it didn’t work, nor did sticking a pin in the hole near the locking screw to disengage the track that moves he mechanism back and forth. I have three matching dial calipers and all are off by .030”, .005” and .025” in relative to the Zero position. What can I do?

What is the T handle tool called? I can't get the front removed from my Blazer to replace it. Tried 2 small flatheads but still can't get that to loosen any. I need one of those T handle tools!

Amazing! I didn't want to throw away one of my favorite torches (best design, most rugged, easiest to use, best value) after the piezo electric igniter switch started failing, and so I searched a bit for a repair guide for my O'Reilly Auto Parts PTW2002 butane torch. I couldn't find any diagrams or how-to's on tearing them down and repairing them correctly, until I found these two videos! It's the same EXACT design of the Blazer ES-1000, and 9 years later, is probably far cheaper (< $20) than what the OP paid for his Blazer back then. Thank you, brother, for posting these videos. I'll definitely be able to keep my torch working far into the foreseeable future now, instead of it being cursed and cast into the great torch graveyard in the sky (aka dumpster)...

That’s not necessarily true. Depending on the series, there is no access hole to disengage the rack . In those cases, Mitutoyo provided a small phosphor bronze shim that you could slip between the rack and the pinion to temporarily disengage the rack from the pinion gear and reset the pointer hand. This is tricky for the novice. I’m my opinion, if the hand is only off a tiny bit, moving the rack is super easy. If you’re brave, removing the hand and placing it back on at the zero position is fairly painless
@PALM311
@PALM311 2 жыл бұрын
You can take the bottom screw out the one that is below the dial and you can take a tool like a paper clip and push it up inside there and disengage the rack and then you can turn your dial back to zero pull the tool out and it will stay right there.

You know mate this is why I LOVE KZbin through folk like you,,, we as consumers buy anything from TVs,, DVD players, Washing machines, down to the small items like this Torch lighter, I get so annoyed seeing flat screen TVs as an example on a dumpster and I've dropped lucky sometimes, even a laptop or two I've given new life and sold and gave any money to Douglas Mcmillam, a cancer hospice group in the UK, and it boils down to *We aren't supposed to repair items now,, the sad part of it, people don't! They'll see *0%%% no payments till X 2029 but you'll pay 3k interest if you miss 1 payment,,,, I'm being dramatic, but it's true, that attitude "why repair, why order a new power supply", or as simple as change the fuse,,,, its manufacturers having power via advertising on TV, but www,,, have you ever talked about a new phone then get inendated with adverts on your smartphone,,, ever thought your being monitored? Why do we accept Cookies ?????????? Why don't we stop, and find the article via a non tracking search engine? It's putting esp young people into debt and they are so vulnerable. I was always as a kid interested how my dad built a fence, repaired the washer, he could apart from car mechanics, not service like oil check, but eg if the clutch or brakes needed fixing, people pay to have a 30 minute service,,, Top up your car oil, air pressure in tyres, water in the radiator, and its £50, call again, thank you,,,, axxxhole.... Buy yourself a *Set of Hex screwdrivers *, buy the little items that these big companies are trying to make us unable to fix a product, you'll really surprise yourself when it's fixed, what ya lost if you were buying new anyway? Do that all year you've got a vacation spending money,,, so yea, this is why I love KZbin because this guy found not only how to maintain his product, but also how to save 30 Dollars on a part worth pennies, I've only landed on here because the issue is not to service mine, but to put a part back the correct way as it cost me 20 UK pounds before Xmas and barbacue weather is soon upon us and I use mine for lighting it, the 20 pounds I've saved,,,, that's 2 *Six packs * 🤘🤘🤘. Great video mate, regards from across the pond 🇬🇧

Hey I have a torch lighter just like this and I may have messed it up really bad by taking it apart and obviously not the right way but regaurdless it was broken before I tryed to fix it. It was not going to complete sharp pointy torch flame like it should even if I had put the sliding thing on the top all the way to torch flame it would be like a solid blue bic flame instead of the torch. Mine Is like yours but idk if yours has the regular lighter option along with the torch option on the top but that's what mine does . But it was not completely going to torch flame like it should have would you know why I can try to find it snd take a picture of it to show you

Vector butane has the adapters!!!!
@GobelPaul
@GobelPaul 4 жыл бұрын
When you took it apart, did you take out the part the slide adjust sits on top of as was well? Basically, all that slide does is cover a hole in the metal tube it sits on to restrict the amount of air that gets mixed with butane. When the hole is completely covered, there's no air so you're just burning butane and that gives the normal flame. When the hole is open, then you're burning a mix of butane and air which makes the jet flame. So if you're not able to get the full jet flame, you're not getting enough air in the mix.

There are a few O rings that cause that problem.One is at the back of the torch where the air adjustment knob is.You will Find a small Allen screw. Tighten that screw and see if it helps . If not ,Back the screw out and pull out the valve.There will be an o ring there, replace if damaged. The other one is much more difficult to replace. You will have to pull apart the entire torch head assembly. Hunter the small needle valve it feeds the fuel there is an O ring between that and the tank . Unscrew the entire needle valve and replace the o ring between the fuel tank and that needle valve. It's a pretty hard o ring to find because it's microscopic and also it's flat. I hope this helps

How long is that igniter from the lighter. I need one for my Bernzomatic TS4000 torch. My igniter is 1-3/8" long from end to end. Maybe I could use the long one and tape it to the side of the handle. I got the Scripto piezo lighters at Walmart.One thing to consider (forgot to mention in the video) is that the wire on the scripto is aluminum...very difficult to solder unless you have the right type of flux.I do a lot of different types of brazing and soldering in my shop so I have a variety of flux but make sure you get some flux designed for soft soldering aluminum !
