What a fun channel! Though I was surprised seeing you picking up some sea creatures from their environment. Here in California (where I am from), it is against the law to pick up any sea/ocean flora and fauna, even rocks and pebbles, from the beaches to protect natural ecology and balance. Is there such a rule in France I wonder?

I had both of those and I say: resting on a beach after writing & recording: "Every month is summer, when you don't bring me down..." is different than after making record week in manufacturing of vacuum cleaners or selling dating online or completig a summit with African political delegation. Here another question... We are taking the train from Nice to Antibes. Is it a far walk to the city or do we need a taxi to see the beach and the city of Antibes? And as always thank you so very much for your excellent tips! Greetings, Sandra.
@rivierago
@rivierago 2 күн бұрын
Hey, from the train station in Antibes to the port, then old town you can easily walk. The beaches on that part of the town are also right there. If you want to get to the cape or the western side of Antibes (Juan-les-Pins, more pretty beaches, many beach restaurants) you‘ll need a taxi or bus. But start off walking to the port and old town! 😊

We love this channel! Was the hotel really included in the average spend as published? Many an ordinary hotel would charge most of that, so I don't know what people are doing or eating? In low season as you were perhaps!
@rivierago
@rivierago 5 күн бұрын
Hey, yes the hotel was included. But the hotel we picked is definitely on the cheaper side, and yes, it was the off season! So in summer it would definitely be (way) more expensive - it actually it depends on the hotels: some become a lot more expensive in peak season, others not sooo much…

My friend and I had our last lunch in Nice at Le St Paul and it was fabulous...beautiful location, fabulous food and once you have a reservation you have from12 till 2 to arrive. Your table is saved for you alone!!! Le Vigna at the Port is great for scrumptious contemporary food. The sea bream on a bed of veggies and mashed potatoes was excellent and so was the salad with crunchy honey drizzled goat cheese. Another favorite was the chef driven, Citrus, in old town..very small menu, cozy ambience and attentive service...Thanks for your videos which definitely enhanced our visit.

Just one other question...(about red La Carte card) Can I go true security in the tram station with 1 card because last year we had some trouble...you need to pass those iron bars...what's the name for it? They close when you pass them...and I have only 1 card...?
@rivierago

Oh right, there are some (only a few) underground tram stations - that’s where these iron bars are. Honestly, not sure! Maybe just hand the ticket back over the bars to the other persons (because it is totally legal to share a card)? Let me call tomorrow, that’s a valid question!

@@19711000sandra Hi again, so I just had someone from Lignes d'Azur on the phone and she confirmed what we suggested: If there's more than one of you, the first person uses the ticket (La carte) to enter, hands it back to the second who uses it, and so forth (same for leaving the station, if required/at underground stations only). Perfectly legal! 😄

Thanks for your video. Learned a lot. We’re planning to retire in the south of France. We’re from Los Angeles, mid fifties, so still young and would love an active life but enjoy the slower pace of the French. Any favorite towns or cities you love? We probably will not have a car in the first year. We would love a house or apartment but with outdoor space.. kinda like where you are in the video. Walking distance to cafes and restaurants etc… please let me know. Thanks!
@rivierago
@rivierago 11 күн бұрын
Hi, sounds wonderful! Without a car and cafes in walking distance the cities like Nice, Antibes, Cannes sound best… it depends on what activities you like. If it’s hiking it’s easier with a car - but from Nice there are buses that take you easily into the hinterland/mountains. (Also from Cannes and Antibes, but that may be a little less convenient). But it’s not too likely to find a nice place with a garden in these places (well, depends on your budget also). We both live around 20 minutes off the coast. One of us has a beautiful garden - but needs the car for literally everything. The other is within walking distance to cafes and buses, but no garden. You could look around the lovely villages like Valbonne, Biot, Mougins: They are very international, within the respective old towns there won’t be gardens, but around the old towns you’ll find houses that offer both proximity and gardens. They come at a price, of course! Mind you: these villages are lively in the summer, but really calm in winter. If you want people all year round, Nice (and maybe Cannes and Antibes) is the place. Was that helpful?

@@lisaupton5371 Both really, really lovely!!! Very different from one another, different from the French Riviera especially, but both so lovely, beautiful and full of cultural stuff to explore. And in the summer just so nice to hang out in the squares with restaurants in balmy evenings... To live there? I would suspect Avignon might become a little small after a while. Aix on the other hand: yes! Big enough, students, Marseille around the corner, even the Riviera not that far away.
