In Canada, you can get any CC bike you want even after passing just your M1. The only issue here is will an insurance company actually insure you, and if they do the price.

I've been wanting to ride since I was a kid, now im 25 and finally have the means to get a bike and gear no problem. Im also married and have a 1 year old .. I keep seeing people online quit riding after having a kid, and how irresponsible it is to ride as a parent. My wife doesnt mind after talking it out, but idk, i think people's bs got to my head.

That’s tough. I can see both sides of the equation. You obviously need to take care of a family now and that’s a factor, but imo you can go about this in a way where you mitigate a ton of risk. Be responsible, wear gear, stay disciplined. You’ll be okay

this was my first cruiser and i wasnt going to break the bank in case i dont like em but, here i am still riding it 4-5 years later. geometry and death wobble you say!? i went long forks (10 over) and dropped the rear chopper style (more trail basically) and its gone :D it helped turn up that lean angle to boot all the way to the edge of tire contact patch without touching the pegs

I've never rode my bike without a helmet, and I have rule, the moment i drink one sip of alcohol, I don't get on a bike for the rest of the day. I could drink a mimosa at 10am, I'm done for the day. Keeps it simple and easy to remember. I've also taken at least 6 rider safety classes in the last 6 years.

I have the '19 base model..... all Blacked out. As for the Death wobble, ( ??? )... Nada. this Bike is True-Blue. She loves to run and is very stable at high speeds. I'm not sure where all this BS comes from.... Maybe someone is trying to denigrate the Bolt cuz it's replacing the Sportster which did have a wobble issue. In fact. my Yamaha outlet had never heard of this before, ( or they wouldn't have sold it ) So.Cut the crap guys. the Bolt never has had an issue with wobble, Ever!. ... Period. I still ride it and it's never let me down. Stay Safe. Ciao

Accidents by engine sizs makes little sense. A Ninja 650 is much closer to a CB500F in power and performance than a R6 is to a Ninja 650. Not to mention, when I started, I was on a Honda Shadow 750, which is slow as balls. You can beat it with a 300 cc bike. The Honda Shadow might still be dangerous to ride but not because you were speeding.

So you’re saying there’s no utility because for off road use Google maps doesn’t work? How often are you realistically going off road vs. street? Do the off road apps outside of Google maps not offer anything within the CarPlay app ecosystem? Personally, I know a lot of people where off roading is maybe 10-20% of the riding they do. Having maps up to view traffic flow (for any accidents or hard stops) along with longer rides make it useful alone. Quad lock mounts as I stated have a history of rattling the sensors off phones (before they came out with the vibration dampener), and cost around $140 compared to this unit at $240. $100 premium to not potentially ruin my $1,000+ phone is worth it to me as well….

Geat video ,Ive had my Bolt,(xv 950 in the Uk)😊 for about three years , I think it looks great and handles brilliant for a cruiser , I can honestly say I can easily keep up with my friends on their sports bikes and when on my own just cruise along at 50 mph , Its got the small Yamaha fairing and a Vance and hines air filter oh and dont forget the big sissy bar Lol , I must agree about the missing gear , and also the wobble which only occurs when you take your hands off the bars ,I do find the gearbox a bit clunky ,but overall a great reliable bike .Roll on the summer.

My parents would always tell me about stories of the biker who got hit and "dit everything right" and that always seems to be the case that "things just happened" and i started questioning whether that was the case. As it turns out, what you do is extremely deterministic in whether you're safe or not. Even with other dumb people on the road, being defensive and preparing for the worst will very likely lead to you being okay. There are some situations that are truely unavoidable. For example driving on a 1 lane road with a great on car that drives straight into you. But if you were in a car in that situation, all that force goes into you. If you're on a bike, you can fly off over top of the car and assuming you have proper protective gear, might be more safe than if you were in a car. This depends on the size of the car as if it was a large truck you'd be minced meat. But the vast majority of situations you'll find yoyrself in, can be avoided with proper anticipation and smart riding.

Glad I started riding at the age of 36. I did so many things to prepare that I would never have if I were 18, or even 25. The same applies when riding. And choice of bike. I went with a 600 right away, but an adventure bike, not a sports bike. I have only 50 HP on this thing and it's a world of difference in output than a sports bike. Higher CC is not necessarily that bad or extreme. Also glad I don't live in the conditional states America, where there is no universal standard of requirements to ride. I keep hearing this "license or endorsement" and "MSF course of two days". Those are some seriously scary statements. Comparing to where I live, those are a fraction of the requirements we need in order to get a license and ride on the road.

Yeah, I've been in 3 car collisions, first one was my fault, was 17 years old on 2010, second and third were in my 30s and I got rear-ended in both. Now my motorcycle collisions? From 2018 - present I have no accidents and the closest things to an accident I had was dropping my first bike twice because I forgot to put up the kickstand. The main reason for crashes is exactly what this video stated, just be careful, keep your head on swivel, don't be stupid, and it'll be as normal as anything with wheels. Overly cautious is better than being overly dead.

There are only 18 states that require a helmet and they’re all democratic. I don’t think that has anything to do with it. I’ve been riding for 70 years I started in 1950for my Harley Davidson was a 1937 we were the same age 17 how much weren’t even thought of back then that for at least 25 years after I started riding I never rode a motorcycle. I was impaired because I have never been impaired. I don’t drink alcohol and I know how to ride safely watching the other traffic be thinking of stopping distance making sure I understand what the car on the side street is going to do, etc. etc. etc. how much loud pipes and all that stuff does not save lives intelligent ridding dose .

I think what isn't factored in to statistics about how dangerous motorcycles are is the fact that they tend to attract the kind of people who are, to put it gently, high risk tolerant. They tend to be the kind of people who are more willing to do risky and dangerous activities in pursuit of an adrenaline rush. This includes taking sharp turns at high speed, blowing through traffic really fast, pop a wheelie at an intersection, things like that. They also tend to be more reckless and wear minimal, if any, safety gear. Because of that, they are far more likely to get into predicaments that dramatically increase the odds of being injured or killed in an accident, thus pushing up the statistics for the rest of us who ride responsibly. Of course riding will always be more dangerous than driving a car, but if you ride responsibly, it is entirely possible to go your entire life without ever suffering any serious injuries.

if you need a low powered bike because you'd be the typical meat crayon with a litre bike, then you're just a hoon that needs a slow bike to ride sensibly. i have two litre bikes because i dont need to ring the bikes neck just to get to the speed limit faster than a 4cyl car. control your inner hoon. just because your bike can go 0-60 in 3seconds doesnt mean you have to

Wow. US stats are worse than I've ever seen in Canada. No helmet laws would contribute to that. The stats I've seen in Canada say motorcycles are safer than cars. Safety really depends on the riders and drivers not taking crazy risks plus we tend to have shorter riding seasons. Often I see videos of motorcyclists riding between cars or illegal passing to get ahead of them. Be patient and stay in your lane where drivers are expecting you to be. Good info. Thanks.

I remember the simultaneous relief of easily missing a dumbass who pulled into traffic in front of me on my bike and another car in the next lane, and realization that if I had been in my truck not only would I have not avoided them, but would have instantly killed them. That caused me to think of the two 4-wheel collisions I've been in, both from blind spot lane changes right into me, and knowing I would have easily avoided both on a bike because of the better maneuverability. Motos don't brake faster, but they do everything else faster, and in less space, than a car. For a competent and aware rider that is a huge advantage.
