For me personally I am searching more for a sound of 70s rock and metal bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Creedence. I've been watched all videos on this topic here on KZbin (actually there aren't a lot of such videos) and I realized that tips like in this video don't apply to 70s rock and metal because there are very opposite picture: all is wet, all is big and all is as natural as you could get it in the room. For me I just found that it helps to record guitar and bass not only through the close mic, but through the room mic and add it in is a big influence in that natural feeling. Also vocals needs to be recorded in a natural biggish room and not too close to the mic (in your video vocals recorded too close to the mic and it immediately breaks all vintage vibe and it screams about it modernity). Piece!

I always bounce out a pure top mic and bottom mic after my drums are finished . Secret weapon for later . Same with the kick with front and beater . 90 percent of the time they get blended in on a separate bus

thats gotta be the first time ive ever seen a "self insert" where a dev put tdeir own plugin inho a list like this to get the word out. and im not even mad. free plugins are what make music possible for many, and i respect any developer who puts thoir software into the world freely, as information needs to be free for lociety to function optimally.

I'm a real amateur, so I'm prepared for the laughs, but some things can take a while to settle in my routines. One of them is samples and drums. There is a confusing aspect about them. Most drum kits use C1 as their kick. On my 25 keys keyboard that requires going down two octaves. However, most samples have their own pitch on C3. I had to dive a little deeper in this because at 11:36 you say you go up 'a couple of octaves' (which seems to be 1 😉, C2). Was this necessary to use the sample in its original pitch (some sample lose their nature when deviating too much from their original pitch)? Earlier this week (I had forgotten about your excellent service of the project file) I struggled in the Dua Lupa Illusion video with the exact same sample (how to find one with the same pitch/depth to follow along with the video?)(imagine the embarrassment when the hi-hat sample I searched the web for was already in my Ableton😳). It even gets more confusing when you put samples in the drum rack (do they keep their original pitch (keeping their original C3 sound when hitting C1?). It takes some practicing (trial and (t)error) to get the picture clear and get overview and routine, at least for me. In a way this is a topic of its own. But, great video.

Great. Only EQ, and a bit delay and reverb. The world could be so easy. There is no need for plugin wars. Good sounds and recordings and some stock plugins are the key for great music. Thank you for sharing.
