Would it be possible to swap the magnets of a Firebird humbucker easily, like with a PAF, or would it destroy the pickup? 🤔
@Hoochiecoochieman90902 ай бұрын
In my opinion this would be a difficult task. I'm not shy about taking things apart to see how they work but knowing the construction of these pu's, I would say it would be too difficult to remover the bar magnets from the bobbins without damaging the windings. What are you trying to achieve by replacing the magnets? Do you have vintage FB pu's? There are some stellar aftermarket replacements.

Still can’t seem to wrap my head around how you managed to get the trim pieces out to cut them.. how’d you do it?
@Hoochiecoochieman9090 Жыл бұрын
Its been a while since so can’t remember exactly how I cut the trim. I want to say I used a wood chisel and hammer to score the hard plastic material followed by a pair of nipper pliers or dykes. Not very pretty but barely noticeable once reassembled. Good luck!
@deusp60879 ай бұрын
You don’t have to cut them unlock the door from inside open it from outside then use a Phillips for the bottom two screws and then pull the plastic and the glued plastic wrap behind it to expose the mechanism
@deusp60879 ай бұрын
After that pull that string to open the glass and then pull the rest of the plastics off without having the cut any of them

This sounds like the March 1971 show Johnny and the band played at the Fillmore East, opening for the Allman Brothers! Bobby Caldwell's drumming is always amazing. Baffles me, he had such a short career! Bobby was a month shy of his 20th birthday when he joined Johnny winter. And was just 22 years old when the first Captain Beyond record was released. He was then 24 years old when Armageddon record came out, then 27 years old in the 1977 release of Captain Beyond Dawn Explosion came out. But after a short stint in the late 1970's doing a short tour with the reformed Cactus, or Son of Cactus Band that was it!! He was a premier rock drummer who could also play ODD TIME music with ease. Again why no one picked up on Bobby is very confusing.

at 3:04 you can hear derringer saying "think I broke something here, man" - that's when I realized that Johnny Winter was playing the only guitar on the track... but Bobby Caldwell and Randy Jo Hobbs were really kicking it with Winter! Then it was derringer - "you've to shake it one time for me..." Hang On Sloopy....!

Indeed! These photos I shot were in Dallas' State Fair Music Hall, Dec. 1970. Rick's contribution to the band was a perfect fit, even down to the "yeahs!". I wish he would have played his ES that night, but the L. P. was a beautiful flame top axe and it sounded great! Thanks for watching!

The way you describe it sounds like maybe the blend door fell through it's supporting bracket (sleeve). Can you see through it to see if the the door fell down into the ducting??

I'm curious, why not just drill a hole in the broken plastic arm and connect it to the metal arm with a zip tie?

Did you end up having to glue it in place? Also could you help me make one of those pieces that you made? I would even be willing to pay you if you could make another one and send it to me. I'm really trying to avoid the hefty price tag with getting it fixed at the dealer.

Will this fix still allow me to switch the air flow from the dash vents to the defrost or the floor?
@warrenlooney6 жыл бұрын
Yes. If your problem is with the "blend" door which controls air flow to the floor or dash & defrost vents. I also discovered during this project that the other vent which controls the fresh/recirculated air was also broken. Since I never use the "fresh" (non-max cold setting), I just screwed it shut permanently. Since Ford used plastic vent parts which get brittle over time and break, there could be other broken pieces that may affect other function of the A/C system. I just figured if I had this problem, others probably did too.

AH! Thank you for both the response and the information!
