Great video thanks. I have a small front lawn not connected to the rear yard. I could run a boundary cable to connect the 2 however. Can I lift the mower up and move it into the front yard with both of these models? Thanks. Also from a reliability perspective, which one is the pick of the 2 please? Thanks mate!

@V8LC100 Hi yes each of thes units you can do what's called a "secondary Area" where you choose the two boundarys run then to the next area and opean them around that lawn - the difference is when you place it in that away area you set the mower to secondary area when battery is low it will stop and not look for the charge plate..my preference is to make acsess to that area if possible to it doesn't need placement to and from charger but works well for small area if it can mow in one charge..The 405x for me is more popular with AIM,connectivity and electronic cutting hight...I sell more if the 405x,,every 3 or them I'll sell a 305 ruffly

Very nice video, it helps me understand the concept and also how to troubleshoot with the multimeter, which I'll do very soon. My remaining challenge will be to find the faulty cable (if any) given it's buried quite deeply apparently and given I don't have any installation map.

@pierrechristen9025 definitely more challenging when you have no instsll map..I have worked on many like that..you can get the mower to trace back a guide and run another guide as a boundary to eliminate as much un known ,depending on how much install is affected.. a tone tester will be worth the money to assist (note:tone tester can trace threw a failed join) some people ue an AM radio also

Could you use the electronic height adjustment to make a pattern on your lawn? So for example have it have higher cutting setting so that it leaves a large "H" pattern on your lawn? Or is the gps not accurate enough for that to work?

@knuthoem. If you have an EPOS System "exact positioning operating system " without boundary wires you can map out an "H" and active this..305 and 405x or other wired modles you would have to use an area switch and creat a secondary area with wire and place mower into that wired "H" - important factor is than any wired system that does use gps assisted navigation only has an accuracy of 2-3m so not possible to have solid position to do such complex tasks..with EPOS systems you can make a map over a map to create an area to cut differnt hight,patten and scedaule.

Hi, I recently purchased a 430x automower. My lawn is divided onto 2 sections and it is necessary to cross the driveway. When installing it the wires across the driveway were lai 1400mm apart with a guidewire in between approx 350mm from one of the wires. The problem is that the lawnmower thinks my driveway is part of the lawn and spends minutes on the driveway. I asked my installer to move the wires to about 700mm apart with the guidewire down the middle so the mower would recognise it as a passage. He said he would have to switch off the GPS function for this to work. I am wondering what my best option is and is it necessary to switch off the GPS to create the passage effect.

@Tom-mi4mi hi..sorry missed this sooner...700mm wide with guide threw center will work well I often do that width - and no need to turn of gps assisted navigation..unit will still follow guide as as per when it chooses to covering all lawn spaces as long as schedule is correct for lawn complexity and size.

I have a Gardena smart SILENO life 1500 and it has only 1G connector on the charging station but i would need 2G wires. Can i connect both wires together on one connector in the charging station?

hi - No most likly you will confuse the mower,, rather set the charge station to one side of your lawn and wrap the guide wire right around the lawn,

I am using a Nera 320 Lawn mover. I have the schedule set up, but the mower is not always moving during the whole duration of the schedule. Can the mower calculate that the mowing is done in a shorter time period?

stripes or known as "systematic mowing " give the unit the ability to maintain lawn 50% faster also meaning they can cut 50% more area for the same modle, where in the past you would need to buy a second unit or more capable unit now one can do so much more..whear and tear on unit is less due to less running time and the cut looks great...all residential units that systematic mow still have the ability to random pattern

@automowtech Will a 450X work on a lawn of 4800m2 ? Its in a C shape of all lawn . No crossing driveways etc

without seeing and mesuring you lawn I carnt say for sure as many factors such as boundary wire you want to be under 750m..charge plate center, no further from a boundary at any time than 30m, and depending how compact ur C shape is - because if one end of the C shape to the other end gets to much past 200m loop signal can get to weak as little volume of wire sending out loop signal is stretched a long way (even if under 750m boundary..I also try keep total wire under 1000m..But if your suitable look at wireless EPOS system.

Is the hours given on the chart actual hours needed for cutting time or hours on the schedule including charging periods? For example the 415x chart says can cut lawn at 1000m2 in 16 hours is this 16 hours schedule time or 16 hours actual time cutting on the lawn ?

scedauled mowing times all are worked out with mowing and charging included..so at a base starting point your lawn is 16 hours per day 7 days a week...this is normally worked out at time of growth but good place to start from then adjust to suit.

i can't get the center screw off ...i've only tried by hand so far as i don't want to strip the head of the screw ..its on extremely tight ...i have a 310...i think they only did the 310 in canada ....any advice would be appreciated Ty.....it says the cutting system is blocked ....i cleaned it out changed the blades but still keeps saying this and the disk is not spinning very freely ...hence the need to remove that center screw and take a look ...

yes that center screw can be tricky..I use a T handle 4mm to get most off, the odd one I'll try a impract wrench to impact it loose...worst case if it has been striped or carnt be un done I'll cut a line across it with cutting disc on a grinder and use flay head screw driver..we allso have 310 and 310mark 2 here..good for the medium to smaller lawn..I have a customer that has 2,,one front of house and one out the back.

yes I would choose the 415x for your lawn size would work well and has AIM mapping where this 430x does not (nera 430x ) does have AIM mapping

Hi, I have a husqvarna 310 and my charging station only have a g1 connection for the guide wire. But my garden has 2 places thats quite challenging. Can I put the guide wire in a U shape in one part of the garden and then let it go back the same way into the charging station? How close can the guide wire be to itself and can it cross itself?

If you go to close guide will cancel out as you are overlaping the - & + signal will confuse ur 310,also depending on ur corridor width which you want as wide as possible,I would avoid a U shape and not run guide into that area you don't want a guide to be closer than 6m on a U shape if you had to..but I would avoid guide in that area and not do that,,running threw most ur lawn,,random pattern and following boundary home will assist lawn coverage.

Nice video about the 305. Any advice how to install the wires when you have a path of about 10 meters long between 2 areas of lawn around the house?

yes - boundary wires 60cm apart each boundry needs 15 - 20cm clear space as to give it some wiggle room,1m wide path is ideal with the 60cm apart boundary wires,,guide wire down the center is a must and set area % for that lawn correctly - you also must turn on "automatic passage handling" to do so : hold down "0" for 3 seconds to get quick menu/Advanced/turn on automatic passages handling..or I will not make it threw ur 10m path..

@rog8374 yes that is a possibility and will happen from time to time but won't be a problem and carnt be avoided..but with systematic mowing constantly maintaing your grass and correct schedule no worries

sure - you want a passageway no less then 10 wide the In the center of that place two boundary wires 60 to 70cm apart with the gide wire center threw the middle - you must use a guide in this instance..

Does the mower always need line of sight to the reference station? We have a garden that loops round the house and house would block line of sight in some areas.

sorry slow reply, No not at all radio signal will bounce around your houses and any out buildings and thew trees...as long as your reference station has clear view of the sky...also consider if your mower has clear view enuff for satellites

I have a long search time of 26% with regular empty battery errors. on a 600m2 square paddock (16 to 20% slope) . Its a 415x, I’ve watched the mower search and it will often go along the guide wire when returning, but then suddenly look confused and go off, away from the guide towards the boundary again. Its done this since purchased 6 or 7 months ago. The guide wire signal appears fine, as does station and boundary. This behaviour seems erratic, could the issue be a faulty loop sensor? My search settings were factory, just changed to your recommendation. Thanks for creating this channel. Have subbed

It's almost like this mower is crippled by a software limitation, 600m2 in 10 hours max, That means it would actually be capable of much more. Good video anyway, the feature of heading out on the guide for so many meters would be very handy.

yes correct..if they allowed it to operate a full schedule is would maintain double the area it does..this hour limitation keeps uses from over using the unit and in basic terms gives it modle differences from say a 310 that can operate 16 hours a day then a 315 that can do 24 hours.but on small lawns that are basic much less hours are needed.

Would adding a secondary area by splicing into the boundary wire, then create another boundary and tap back into the boundary at a downstream location function? It seems to me, that all current is flowing in the same direction and should work well.

I should add that this would create a box formed by adding wire on 3 sides only and the 4th side would be formed by the original boundary as a common element. This would form a type of grid separated by a single wire isolating the different areas. Please advise. I am trying to save labor in several areas, not wire.

@@santobrocato8012 I'm not 100% sure on what you are trying to do hard without a picture...but a secondary area would bot work in that way..the in and out wire needs to come out from the boundary creating a compleat loop then closing up and continuing all without need of joins...the outside of the main area can not work as a boundary as on the outsidebis a negative magnetic feild and in the inside is a positive so what you described would cours the mower to drive into an out of loop situation

Hello, I’m new to KZbin at age 35 lol. Not sure how to ask a question besides posting a comment. Thanks for the info across several videos you’ve posted. My yard can be handled by the 430 just fine, but is the extra cost for the 450 worth it being that there’s an additional guide and sensors instead of relying on the encasement bumping an obstacle? My yard is not very complex. Thx

hi,size of your lawn depending..if you are well under 2500m2 you should be fine with a 430x,,if you are 2500m2 and above I allways recommend the 450x as it has double the batteries and a faster ground speed

yes you can temporarily run without a guide but when you do add guide and you should ensure you do a "guide calibration " - watch my finding charge station settings to get the best search % and esyer return to charge station

Thanks for making these videos. They are very informative. Im about to finally buy an auto mower because the price dropped by $400 😮. Maybe because they're trying to get rid of the wire models and push the GPS EPOS models.

awsome most likely that's the case..more Nera EPOS modles hitting the market slowly in different country's.. but not every install will suit wire free or be as cost effective as wire so a deal on a wire version can be good.

So if I have complex garden, which consists of two parts (one is bigger and another smaller) what would be ideal search settings if have the charging base with guide on the bigger area? the small are is narrow and to come back to charge is possible only via boundary.

0 mins on you guide and 6min on your boundary..that way will benefit the large area the most and after 6min will trace the boundary when in the smaller area..you don't want boundary setting to low or you won't give it enuf time to find the guide wire

Hi i use the C6818 Cable Locator. Its pretty good, it does the job but i don't love it,, its a tone tester,, im yet to try a unit that runs voltage down the line said to be more accurate but they are more money, This unit does well unless its an intimmitn join at fult in that case it can trace straight past it,, but i map all my joins and mark them with galvanized 40x40 washer pined to the ground next to the join, cheek out this random link on the tester www.cabac.co.nz/p/test-and-measurement/electrical/cable-locators/c6818

Good tip re setting guide wire search to 0min for large properties. Less time searching the better!
