@@Townsendhouse1 To be honest, it took me about three different tries to read the book. I couldn't get past the first chapter, but I forced myself to at least read beyond that, and once I did, I was hooked! I love the statement the author is making about the good and evil inside all of us. It has become one of my favorites. I hope your daughter will give it a try and love it as I do. 😊

You can fix the calendar page. Use white glue that dries clear, a toothpick, wax paper, and something to weight it down. Put a thin layer of glue on the edges of the rip, place on wax paper, be sure everything is lined up, no wrinkles, place more wax paper on top. Finally place weighted object on top and let dry a day or so.

My girls are going to 8th grade but I love looking at HS curriculum picks to help alleviate the pressure I feel to try to squeeze so much into middle school. For instance I’d planned to do the fallacy detective and whatever happened to Penny candy (2nd attempt) for 8th grade. Now I know I can hold off because I definitely want them to use GH Government in HS. Seems heavy so may even save that one for 10th grade. Thanks for sharing!

I have definitely planned some books too early in the past and end up pushing off to later! I actually found that we had done most of the Guest Hollow Chemistry in the Kitchen books when we did Sonlight level J a few years ago, and wished I had been able to save some of them for that course when I realized they were used. We may end up going that route for my youngest who is only going into 4th grade - plenty of time to make changes 🤣

I'm going to start using daily duo in July, and I'm so antsy- I've been making my own versions in a bullet journal which is so tedious. When I wrote out the times for the first 3 days, I accidentally numbered 6 to 18 instead of starting over at 1:00 p.m. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm even more excited to start in January 2025 with the new version! I bought the second half used pretty cheaply from someone but it's the older version.

I had shingles for the first time last year.. It started the day we left for vacation and I had no idea what it was for 4 or 5 days and then we weren't home for another 5 days after that. . Thankfully I have some friends that you know some homeopathy and other natural care So I was able to start treating right away without having to go to the doctor. By the time I was able to get in, it was already So much better! It was during a time of a lot of stress- probably from planning the vacation and getting it executed, but also my immune system was really worn down. I had strep throat A couple of weeks after I got home and then I had it 3 months before. I hope that you're on the mend now! I think that if I had those pages I would use them as passion project planning/recording space. I would probably white out or washi over some of the text that is laid out and relabel. Overall, I think they would be really good for project planning and record-keeping. Although, there are so many extra notes pages in this planner, I wouldn't need so many extra pages. But, yes, I think that is what I would use them for 😊

Hey! It was good to hear this chat! And while my daughter is only in eighth grade at the moment, she would 100% agree about being burnt out on computer courses. My intent was never to start online learning, but when it came to Spanish and science, I wanted to do it that way, to ensure that she got the best teachers available. We did BJU for both, and we did Shormann for math. between those three subjects, she has been slowly dying on me over the past two years. Lol. The thing is, she’s super loves science, and I agree that BJU is great for science. Because there are 180 lessons, and because we are caught in the trap of doing things outside the house during the school day, also, we struggle to fit it all in. as of the moment, I have shifted her lessons with BJU, and her end date is in the future, lol. I am very sad about that. She also hasn’t gotten into the fun labs for biology, yet, but I know she will be excited when she gets to those over the summer. We are also not really year-round homeschoolers, which makes it hard. For next year, she is wanting to move back to Saxon math and wants to somehow switch up science. I am still not sure what to do, as I’d love for her to do Chemistry at our co-op, but it may not work with her dance schedule. She would just thrive with other students in an actual class, but she may have to take one for the team, aha!! I am glad you overall had a good year and are so great about reflecting!!!

I will have to ask him on specifics, but he typically enjoys going into skillshare looking for specific things he needs help with in Blender. He also enjoyed going through several of the unreal engine 5 classes. He is an experimenter though, so he doesn't necessarily do every class, he learns something and then tries it and then tries to experiment with what he learned. Some of his focuses this year - easily move and model objects in Blender, animate using keyframes, voice acting, matching sounds with mouth movements in animation, and editing through adobe premiere pro. It has been a fun year of work for him! His 2 big projects are creating an animated minecraft series and then creating games in Roblox Studio.

I bought the high school writing journal alongside the high school reading journal from Not Consumed. I would still add grammar and vocabulary, but with those four components, I'd grant a full credit. I can't imagine just using this writing journal as an entire ELA credit?
@Townsendhouse1
@Townsendhouse1 Ай бұрын
I wouldn't count this as a full English credit either as I have looked through it more (because I also think you need literature and vocab). I am going to count it as a creative writing elective though. With the 120 days of lessons plus 10 days of projects (which I think could easily be expanded to make it more robust) would work for an elective credit. But, yes, I don't think I would use it alone for an English credit for a transcript. At the same time, if I look at my local high school, adding in some personal reading and a few more short stories and you do have an english credit for high school so I think it depends what your state requirements are as to what would count.
