Thanks for another video. Tough patch at the moment with my 8 year old daughter that resulted in a trip to A&E last week. Positives is it's fast tracked our assessment and hopefully the ehcp. However this week is a write off and we're considering homeschooling for the short term. My daughter also has learning difficulties so she's a huge ball of anxiety at the moment. so difficult not knowing what's for the best but certainly need a break at the moment. Always good to hear these discussions. Sending love to all those going through similar.

Music is magic when it comes to getting tasks done! 😊 I am AuDHD with PDA and i have an off grid homestead, lol, with 20 goats! I also have noise sensory issues, and had no idea until i already had a farm that i have all these issues, being misdiagnosed when i was younger. I am guided by music through all the tasks i do. I actually turn the chore into a dance, and before i know it I'm done milking all 6 goats and still bopping to the tunes! I've tried to do it in silence and it's just not the same. I have different genras i listen to for different things and love finding a new artist i enjoy. Music is magical when it comes to getting mundane tasks accomplished! ❤

You can also apply for an EHCP under a parental assessment. This also give a right to appeal if assesment is refused. I requested a parental assessment for an EHCP and have successfully obtained one for my 4 year old child.

Most people are following the dopamine dosing narrative. With skydiving, surfing carnival rides, sex, pleasurable pursuits, eating a delicious cookie, using stimulates etc. Sure that will create a temporary increase for ND or NT. What people don't get is when our organ the brain is working properly FLUIDLY then dopamine is at a constant minimum. Six weeks into aware of adhd autism i just used logic and removed barriers to my brain food wise added to simple foods with l tyrosine, added basic supplements i dont get as food sensitive, few other aspects lastly added 1500 mg l tyrosine 2 days and the door to my executive function kicked in and stays all good. ALL my exhaustive, impactfull adhd bads dissapeared. Over 2 months noticed time blindness, RSD,Freeze Zone Out gone as well. I share autistIc traits some with adhd discovered then that dopamine plays heavy with my autism. And yes of course socalled trauma rejection messages are part of RSD. I had the similar mindful experiences as others but still it disappeared. My point is this idea that we are limited to manageing add adhd autism are false. I flipped to all good, not dosing anything so others can as well explore pretty much curing themselves. Also there is no constancy to adhd may feel that way but is much to do with curcumstance. Hyperfocusing creates a theta brain wave for anyone. So is akin to meditation. Thx for post.

It's interesting and also stressful for me that some days I'll have the same short sound loop running in my head all day long, maybe starting with the rooster crowing, or my phone alarm or ring. I work as an SEN Teaching Assistant as an agency worker and what the school will never tell you and i want parents to know about this. Is that a child will be allocates a number of hours of support in his healthcare plan but if there is other children with high needs in the same class with no healthcare plan, i will be asked to go and support those children and leave alone the one who s been allocated a full 30 hours healthcare plan that he is entitled to get but they wont give it entirely to him I will be share with other children when the other SEN child is supposed to be fully supported! Parent cant picture it as they are not on a school setting but the will never tell you that they will be using the hours allocated to your child on healthcare plan for another one wh isn't. I told the Senco whats the points of having an healthcare plan and not be able to get the support that the child is entitled to get? No one can talk about it as staff can loose their jobs! I think personly that schools should be fine for not supporting a child on the healthcare plan while using his hours to support someone else without a hearhcare plan!

The education system deludes children and professionals. I don’t think the professionals know that they cause more harm than healing, harming people with capitalism. Disease and illness has far more to do with socioeconomic factors than human biology. In areas with financially disadvantaged people are polluted with mental illness, these disadvantaged people are nearly 5 times more likely to experience mental illness, addiction (an actual disease), and suicide. Diagnosis rates correlate with the wealth of a country, the wealthier the country, the higher the diagnosis rate. N. America 1 in 36 people are autistic, in Australia 1 in 50 people are autistic, 1 in 100 people in the UK are autistic. Bullying, social media, employment discrimination, social inequality, poverty all inflict human health in all areas. Sadly, the medical system believes in what I call “Biological Determinism” because of a belief system produced by Rene Descartes, Adolphe Quetelet, and Francis Galton. These 3 produced the belief that disabled humans are ‘broken robots’, that there’s something wrong with the person and not what’s happening to the person. The socioeconomics are what need to be addressed, but the medical system is too focused on people due to the belief the person is ‘broken’ and not society’s structure of capitalism. There is something I call “Cultural Transmission”. That some illnesses are culturally passed on and not biologically passed on to the next generation. If we take IQ as an example, it’s discovered racism, ableism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination reduce IQ levels. So people who live in a discriminatory culture are more likely to be diagnosed with intellectual disabilities than those who don’t. We need to stop focusing on only people, and instead address how our economy is inflicting human health in all areas, mental, social, physical, developmental, genetic, psychiatric etc…

For my 8 years old daughter what helps is having known a routine. For example I prepare clothes in the evening as you also do. I leave them on a chair in her bedroom. She would wake up, get dressed on her own (she refuses to wear socks on her own though) she'd go downstairs, find home work on the table, do 10/15 minutes of that then watch 10/15 minutes of cartoons (her choosen reward) while having breakfast. She knows I'd brush her hair while she watches cartoons. So far so good. What is slightly challenging at this point is switching off cartoons and brushing her teeth before leaving the house.

I'm AuDHD and I've noticed within the week or so before my period my mental health almost always makes a dip 🥲 I've also experienced some pretty horrible pain, lightheadedness, cold flashes, slightly irregular cycles etc. It was today that I finally found out what Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is and everything makes so much more sense. I thought such a significant hit to one's mental state prior to the start of a period was a thing that happened to everyone, neurodivergent or not but apparently it's not as common in neurotypical people, what?? 😭 You learn something new every day I guess

Whatever happened to basic peace and quiet? Imagine a retired person, 65+ yrs., who is still healthy, shops, drives. He/She gets up today, in a free country/USA, and has a free choice: Will i? or won't i? choose to "engage" w/anyone today? It is NOT "required". Oh yes, you can go thru the Drive-thru at Starbucks or order and speak to a person. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about if you are in any public place and anyone says: "Excuse me, but could you...?" You DO have the right to say: 1. No, I can't. 2. "No. I dont want to. Nor am I required to, by any Law." 3. Just stare at them and say nothing. 4. Say, "I'm not talking with other people today. I have that right." Or say: 5. Gee, i was just gonna ask YOU- "Excuse me, but could you not disturb my peace n quiet and not ask me anything? 6. Maybe I'm just an Introvert and wanna be left alone. That's not illegal. I don't OWE you anything just because you approached me. 7. Instead of "pathologizing" someone for them saying "No" or not responding, how about if we "pathologize" YOU for being unable or unwilling to NOT ask, or being too needy, or trying to dominate, or obligate, any other people? It works both ways. Ever think of that? They say: but that's Rude. Reply: and your pestering me, is rude, too. I didnt get outta bed today to go around doing things for other people. What you would do, or not do, is your own doing. Your choices, do not obligate me. Get that. Quite simply, i DON'T have to "engage" with you. At all. Get over it. It's my day off. You're not my Boss. I intend to go right on enjoying the peace-n-quiet i was enjoying til you came along! I'm within my rights. Now, get outta my face.

The brain needs certain nutrients to develop, and the structure and function of the amygdala is part of that. There are DNA SNPs that are associated with autism, that interrupt the metabolism of folate, and thus the synthesis of neurotransmitters. During gestation, the fetus uses the mother's blood folate to develop its brain and spine. If she's got the same SNPs, the baby's development suffers. In any case, after the birth, the baby is depending on its own folate metabolism, and the amygdala still needs it to continue developing. If the baby has a serious dysfunction in folate metabolism, the amygdala can have quite serious consequences.

That's a brilliant but tricky question. I think for us, its been finding a balance between the two. My daughter's needs have to be understood, but by the same token she has to understand that certain things aren't going to wash. Being violent isn't ever acceptable, but understanding that for her the anxiety and stress are overwhelming...it's a tricky balance

@PDADadUK Thanks for your answer. I have been thinking about the shaken cola bottle and that if the lid is left on for a while after the shaking, the cola doesn't explode as much. So, the question is, can, what you said at 7:30 about catching the meltdown before it happens apply? I know a young girl who has been diagnosed with PDA and she is a fantastic person, loving and funny, but has always been a bit dramatic. So I would love her to realise she is fantastic, but needs to work on how to deal with situations, where she is not in control. I liken emotional and psychological training to physucal training. Some people need to work harder to gain muscle growth, while others are naturally strong. BUT if they went to the gym regularly, they would gain strength, just slower. I hope and believe, with hard work and the right tools, people diagnosed with PDA can also improve their reaction to loss of control. What do you think?

@@LeahRobbi think the key is keeping logical thought engaged. There's an inherent danger in pushing to repress the frustration and pent up anxiety. It leads to more issues down the track in my experience. With my daughter I try to keep her thinking logically. dopamine isn't actually about "enjoyment/pleasure" it's about reward or positive feedback. Eating food releases dopamine because it keeps you alive, as a very simple example, but it can be more abstract than that. The nuance is slightly different and if you can understand that it can help you manage ADHD a little better.

Having really just learned about PDA this morning, I did exactly what you mentioned. I had that "Eureka!" moment. My three kids are grown now, but two of them were resistant as kids and teens, with one of them being EXTREMELY resistant. I could NOT figure it out the whole time that child was growing up. I think I might've heard of PDA before but if I did, it didn't really click. Today I'm looking into it and holy cow! I think I may have found the answer - after 30+ years of dealing with it. LOL

I’m writing my second book at the minute, my first one’s already on sale on Amazon called “Neurodiversity Fixing A Dysfunctional Society”. The book I’m writing now is called “Neurodiversity The Normal Conspiracy”. I’m writing how the medical system is actually making things worse by its narrow view, something I call ‘genetic fundamentalism’. The constant increase of health problems in general are more to do with socioeconomic factors and how disability is a dichotomy. Health was redefined in the 1800s, the term ‘abled’ wasn’t made until the 1940s. The book I’m writing now is to protest against “velvet eugenics”, scientists are blinded by their desires that they are unknowingly suggesting we cause human extinction. They’re nearly ready to start a second holocaust like the Nazi Holocaust.
