I love how real these sketchbooks look. I always get discouraged whenever I see perfectly curated sketchbooks and they end up stuck in my storage(abandoned). Thank you for this! <3

Everything you said about your art was so sad. Remember your art is fine. Even ugly art is fun and has its place.

I love these types of sketchbooks, they make me feel so confident in my way of drawing, since I feel that I am used to seeing these types of sketchbooks that are super detailed and perfect :)

I’ve only been a artist with a sketchbook for like two in a half years and I feel like at some point social media kinda made it were my sketchbooks had to be pretty and colorful but now that I’m starting to post my art I really prefer black and white with a bit of color because it’s way easier for me to

only seven minutes in and this already has made me feel so much better abt my stuff, cause this feels so raw and upfront- i have a lot of sketchbooks i havent finished with empty pages in because i wanted every single thing left onto the paper to be absolutely stunning without any imperfections, and i couldnt (cant) let go of it. when watching other art things, everyone else's looked so awesome, i though i just fucking sucked at everything, because things were unfinished and/or not meeting my expectations (if I didn't like em, I'd rip them out, or just give up on drawing, and when I didn't, I'd just start a whole new book then give up on it later anyway). overall, i think this will be very enjoyable to watch. thanks for the video.

i love your wobbly art so much. i hate how ‘art skill’ is so narrowed down to steady hands and drawing a thing that looks real. it’s so sad that it had because your drawings look so alive. if art could only ever be about steadiness and skill then there would never be art that looks as alive as this

No offense, but do you feel like you're wasting lots of papers on those abandoned sketchbook. Before i have lots of SB too , but regret when I'm not able to finished till the last page. One reason why i switch to loose paper when doing sketches.

as someone else has commented, theyre a tool that served a purpose. even if its not what others would do in their own books, it served me through what i needed it to. i love that we all have our own practices and what works for me doesnt necessarily work for you. its a beautiful and diverse world

Ty for this video, due to medical reasons I can't draw for a long time anymore and this viewpoint has made me more comfortable with just drawing and not letting it be perfect. I can "finish" pieces now even with blatant imperfections and still be happy because at least I still got to create :] It makes creating art sooo much more enjoyable, so thank you!! <3

okay so for the end pages question, they glue those two together like that so that they can connect the pages with the cover, and that way make sure the whole notebook/sketchbbok is sturdy enough. I'm unsure about what u meant when you said the end page is instead the first page in the sketchbook? the one that is weirdly glued IS the end page, that is the proper name for it, but maybe I'm missing smth or misunderstood you?

i really like your general approach and mindset toward drawing! i like how you embrace the simple action of it instead of focusing on any particular outcome. it takes a lot of the pressure off to make something that looks a certain way and just allows you to play. i’m the same in that i like making things quickly and expressively, so i really connect with your process!

Really fun to sit and listen while doing some sketching of my own. Definitely had a laugh at some of the drawings with text like 'not cute' and 'cute'. The colours are awesome, glad it's a space that isn't meant to be stressful it's so easy to fall into trappings of not trying any different or exploring- really i think the best ideas can come out of doing just that. The jet set radio characters were well worth the wait also :0 Keep it up.

it was nice to have your video in the background while i was scribbling away! this also reminded me when one time i was journaling with my friend, she said the drawing i made looked like something she would do. which i think about sometimes. i’m learning to be okay with ugly drawings! honestly, they can be more fun than aiming for “perfect” pieces. sometimes i just wanna shut my brain off and scribble away without fear of messing up

I so much prefer sketchbooks to the 'art books' you often see on social media. Show us your scribbles, and working through a concept, or weird colour combos, wonky art, and different materials you try out. Polished and beautiful art of course has its place, but for those of us who are not at that level, sketchbooks like this as much more realistic, and gives us permission to just play and learn and the reassurance that we will find our way, too.

There's nothing wrong with your sketch and block artwork. It's very important to have fun with your art. Just because something isn't conventional or traditional doesn't mean it isn't valuable to you. Picasso's art was considered different. "Jack the dripper" was known for throwing paint on his canvas. Salvador Dali painted time as melting clocks for Pete's sake. Tbh they all made art however they dang well pleased. I love your flowy line drawing style and you make me want to try my hand at something less concrete myself.
