The militants were flushed out in 2003 after repeated attempts of discussions failed to convince them to leave the country. This shows how vulnerable the southern parts of the country were to illegal settlements by illegal immigrants. Individuals took advantage of it thinking Bhutan was just another easy target of being a hotbed for illegal immigrants like the rest of South Asia. How wrong they were when they got what was due.

@@himalayahoo The narrative that Bhutan allowed those militants to stay within the country are false, made up claims by individuals like Tek Nath Rizal. It won’t make sense since Bhutan values it’s sovereignty looking at their past history and actions with the British as well.
