Wasn't really a cat person until my former partner's cat, who she adopted pregnant, had kittens. I kept the lone siamese, who was born in my bed on mother's day a few years back. Didn't know cats could be as affectionate as her! Love that critter to death.

Problem is- once you’ve loved a main coon, that memory remains with you forever. Loosing a main coon is like loosing a child.

Guy is 11 months already 14 pounds and as sweet as honey. His dame was almost 20 the sire 28 pounds. I am growing my Own monster kitty.

Everyone here gushes about how sweet Maine Coons are. So is mine. But theres another side. About a year ago Ozzy was in the garage (he refuses to stay in all the time) and I noticed he was zeroed in on something underneath my bench. I went to check it out and found he was staring down a COPPERHEAD SNAKE!!! I grabbed a roofing scraper and the snake moved to a different spot under the bench. Ozzy followed and distracted the snake so I could get in a position to dispatch it. What a badass!!!. Needless to say Ozzy gets away with A LOT of stuff since then. He's my hero!

lol. I know how to tell I have a Maine Coon!! She cost me 3500.00 dollars!! lol. In 2000 so 24 years ago I bought 2 for 500 each back then. I bought them at a cat show & the red boy had won several best kitten in show blue ribbons & the breeder gave me them too which was nice. To buy my Maine Coon kitten this year I found a wonderful breeder with a great reputation. My blue tabby has the blue pads. She has the butterfly on her back shoulders. She has VERY fuzzy ears & Lynx tips. Her tail is SO long when she was a month old her brothers had 6 inch tails & her was 10 inches she was the only female in her litter born this past July 5. She was born in a suburb of Chicago & I flew her home with me when she was 16 weeks old to my home in AZ. She was so good flying. Slept the whole flight home 4 hours. The breeder is also a professional groomer. All her cats are DNA tested to not have hip dysplasia & no heart defects which can be common in Maine Coons. She guarantees her cats for 10 years. She was so great at socializing my Bailey ( what I named my coon ). Bailey is the most cuddly loving kitten I’ve ever owned. Even more than my other 2 coons. She sleeps next to me all night long & is near me anytime I’m home. It’s very sweet. If I go out when I come home she is waiting by the stairs. My coon for sure has slanted almond eyes a greenish shade. Hard to describe they sometimes seem to have a bit of gold in them. Then other times I don’t see it. She is just getting a bushy tail & the start of her main. She is crazy playful. She has toys everywhere. You’d think I had a small child in the house. She has a baggy fuzzy teddy bear she likes to grab by the throat bite & kick with her back legs. It’s very cute. My 3 yr old grandson gave it to her. She’s great with other cats dogs & kids I don’t have dogs but the breeder did & a big parrot. Bailey loves to watch the birds out the window. She will run window to window back & forth to watch the birds !! She’s gorgeous. I wish I could upload a pic like u can on FB. She’s so pretty.

My fluff depositor is definitely my companion, hes so sweet and happy when i come home! Hes almost 3, ive had him for almost a year. but hes home alone while i work(10-12hrs a day).. does anyone think he needs a buddy while I'm away?? Honest question for my fellow Maine Connie's

My friend's Maine Coon cat has this same shorter fur over his front shoulders. After he told me that's a traditional trait in MC MCP cat breeds, I didn't believe him. This Maine Coon talks a lot, just like his cat does. Chirps, chatters and even high pitched whistle like sounds. BIG and Beautiful... quite a combination! :D

My Maine Coon came from the shelter where I work. I was cleaning cat kennels, opened the door and he put his paws on my chest a kissed me. He came home with me. I took him to the vet and she agreed that he was a Maine Coon. He was found under the hood of a car. He has been with us for 3 years.

We just ended up with 2 Maine coon mixes. They're 5mos and the little boy is 10lbs and the girl is 7. They're so friendly and talkative lol.

What about the cost of the mc? I saw a site on fb selling them for $350 each. That’s not right.

lol. I can tell my Bailey is a Maine Coon bcz I paid three thousand dollars for her. Lol. She comes from a reputable breeder who really knew her stuff. She explained to me markings that a gray Maine Coon should have Butterfly on her shoulders. Blue ( charcoal gray ) foot pads. Green or Yellow eyes. Large fluffy Lynx Tips & fuzzy inside ears all of her adults & I noticed my kitten had them soon after her ears stood up. My kitten at 8 weeks had a 10 inch long tail & all her brothers had 6 or 7 inch. I can’t wait to see her when her tail fills in. She’s still a kitten right now. Her mom had a HUGE fluffy tail & yes her paws? She has to grow into them!! lol. She has long fur in between her pads on her paws. She had gray eyes at birth but turned green. I had 2 maine coons both males I bought in 1999. Back then? They only cost 500 each. I almost fainted when I saw what they cost now!! lol. They are worth it tho. They are just so sweet.
