wow the sport evolved soo much. just 7 years, but i feel like i could do these boulders. i can definitly not do the boulders from the current boulderbundesliga final.

Nice to see the NEOM Masters in this video. I was an assistant setter for this comp and the first time working at a comp of this level, great experience. I am by far not able to set at this level and was just a helper.

do the climbers get to practice their routes beforehand, or is every run a flash?
@marcbecker14314 ай бұрын
It varies, but there's sometimes some viewing time (no touching anything that you can't reach from the ground) and other times it's pure onsight (a flash being only the 1st attempt). I assume you can look up the IFSC rules somewhere.
@warptens56524 ай бұрын
no practice beforehand but they can try multiple times, they have 4 minutes.

Super impressive. But somehow, a bit sad that it's all about dynos, parkour, big jumps... old school boulders may be less visually impressive but they also provide equal challenges
@driesvanoosten44174 ай бұрын
It's not just about how visually appealing the boulders are. It's just too hard to separate the field on old-school boulders. All athletes are just too strong...
@PSYCHEDBOULDERING4 ай бұрын
I get your point! Bouldering evolved over the years and im absolutely okay with that. This sport is not standing still. Creative routesetting and the ability to implement elements from other sports is what keeps this sport alive. Oldschool and newschool (dynos, parkour, big jumps) bouldering is mixed up in todays competition climbing and who knows whats coming next.....anyway, the results of this evolution is reflected in my videos ;)
@xavxavxavier4 ай бұрын
@@driesvanoosten4417 I beg to disagree: do a replica of Burden of dreams on the wall, and I'll bet there'll be some separation between climbers.
@robertrosen27034 ай бұрын
@@xavxavxaviertrue that, but the 4 min time restraint is too short for Burden of Dreams. But I get your original point, even though I like newschool, the competitions have become too flashy, too visual and too much do or die with ultra specific skillsets.
