This lift originally had 100 chairs, but in 2014, 24 more chairs were added (they removed 17 chairs from the old Montezuma Express and 7 chairs from the old Peru Express a year earlier).

Cool video! Seems to be going pretty quick

Yup! For a lift of its age, it’s refreshing to see it run pretty close to its max operating speed.

A lift of this length really needs closer spaced chairs / a faster operating speed (they should've gone with the longer terminals seen on lifts like the Mercury and Rocky Mountain SuperChairs).

The most down lift in all of colorado. It actually caught fire the day before you posted this.
@tucker.84Күн бұрын
This video was actually taken on Friday Dec. 13th, so a couple days before I posted this. Where did you hear that this lift caught fire? I haven't seen anything online.

Would this be a good spot for beginners? I’ll be staying in Glenwood the first week of January with some friends and we would like to try out skiing or snowboarding
@tucker.842 күн бұрын
I think Sunlight Mountain is a great choice for beginners. Sunlight is more of a smaller area, and lift tickets are pretty cheap. If you're not looking to splurge at Aspen/Snowmass, than Sunlight awesome; no frills and extra expenses added on top as well. Since its more of a smaller area, Sunlight sees minimal crowds and pretty decent lodging around the base. As far as terrain goes there is a green trail off of every lift, with a magic carpet (I think) and the Tercro triple lift servicing the beginner terrain, so if you're looking to build up your skills they do a pretty good job for what you get. They do have more natural trails in the beginner area (not groomed runs), so I'd just be aware of that also. I assume rental gear is also pretty cheap too, but I have my own gear so I can't really give you an answer on their prices for services. Here's a more in-depth overview if you're looking for more info as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWjckoidqamKodk Hope you have fun! Enjoy your time in Glenwood! 😊

how so? also do you like jazz music?
@TwinSkiingLiftsRides2 күн бұрын
The speed is about 725 fpm in this recording. I’ve never been a fan of this lift, mostly because of the awkward footrests and the slow speed.

did yan's obsession with using half towers actually save that much on building/manufacturing costs?
@tucker.848 күн бұрын
I'm assuming yes, but the cost of installing & manufacturing a lift would probably already be a part of the total cost as well, so maybe not.

That generation with the Omega-T grip is probably the smoothest ride of any detachable. It's a shame how bumpy the new lifts are over the support sheaves - LPOA needs to do something to address this.
@tucker.8410 күн бұрын
Super Bee as Copper is exactly like this too, its a smooth ride over & under sheave trains. I get the feeling that when Poma and Leitner merged the quality of their engineering only lasted for a some time and then proceeded to go downhill a bit. Don't get me wrong though - they still make great products, but their detachables in recent years just make so much noise, most notably in the safety bars.

i hope this is the next lift after superstar on the chopping block. the capacity just isnt enough anymore, escpecially with how often misloads happen. however they would have nowhere to move this lift other than maybe replacing summit or golden at Pico. i think they should consider a loading carpet for this lift if its gonna stay

It’s pretty great out there, conditions are excellent for early December. Lots of natural trails are open along with some fantastic groomers on the Dercum Mountain side. North Peak is also open too, and there’s some great coverage on the bump runs as well.
