Hi, not sure if you’ll ever see this but I was curious if you could tell me what the r10 component on emerald sapphire and ruby is? I know that it can either be a cap or a resistor for agb-e05-01 but what do these 3 specifically use? Also if it is the capacitor can you give me the exact specs or possibly an exact part number for replacing them. Some places say to use 1uf cap some say 0.1uf and I don’t know what I’d right. I really want to save this game.

Do you still do repairs? I tried changing the clock battery on my authentic Sapphire but I think I bridged two pins on the ROM chip with a tweezer by accident and then saw a spark. Was so upset when I saw that and it dawned on me that I most likely fried the chip...

what i always tell people is learn how to solder practice for a while when you are skilled and confident enough then go ahead because its not like you can go to shop and buy a new game

The battery doesn't press against the top half of the shell or is there space made for the battery?
@imod.systems2 ай бұрын
There’s enough clearance for the battery and the shell. If you use a battery holder, or a bigger battery, it will press on the shell and crack it over time.

Would you ever consider posting links to equipment you use for these repairs? Also do you have any kind of specialized training in this or work in this field (electronics repair)? I’m interested to learn and possibly find a job doing this type of stuff for other applications as well. You definitely have a lot of technical knowledge.
@imod.systems2 ай бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate it. No specialized training. I have a passion for technical hobbies and I find myself engrossed in them. My advice to you would be working on stuff you find interesting. It’s risky but be patient with it. If you’re not skilled enough to pull off a repair shelf it for a while until you build your skill level up.
@jvogler_art47083 ай бұрын
You have insane skill. Working on electronics this small is so difficult. One wrong move like the original owner of this cartridge did and everything can fail.

I killed my DS Lite the same way but it wasn't on purpose, just a soldering mistake on my PK Sapphire :'(, surprisely my GBA SP didn't die... I did fix the soldering issue on the game and now it boots, but it just won't save anymore, even if it says it did. Maybe one of the capacitors blew? I don't know... Perhaps is possible fix the bootlegs that save on the rom itself too? They use a single chip for both rom and save and instead would be better split them.
@imod.systems4 ай бұрын
Bootlegs are extremely dicey. They often use old stock / counterfeit flash chips. You can find them for a few bucks on AliExpress. If they're giving you a problem, just replace them. Honestly, I'd invest the money into an Everdrive and not have to worry about it.
@CruisnEma4 ай бұрын
@@imod.systems for pokèmon games the bootlegs aren't able to work with GC or DS dual slot functions. I made a Water Blue hack rom and cannot works and not even the everdrive could do it.

Is this a 3rd gen Pokemon game? If so, double check that you didn’t accidentally knock off R9 just above the positive battery pad. It’s very easy to do.

What's the point of putting a battery in an Emerald cart?
@imod.systems4 ай бұрын
Real time clock. There are several events in the game that require the clock to operate. For example, there’s a cave in the game that will adjust the water levels depending on the time of day.

I thought you had to soldier with a heat sync? Or is that why the flux does? Genuinely curious been years since I last did it.
@imod.systems4 ай бұрын
Flux is a chemical that cleans oxidation. High heat creates oxides that prohibit solder from making a clean solid connection. Think of it like this. Have you ever put a sticker on a dirty surface? If you have, you’ll notice that it doesn’t stick very well. Now if you clean that surface first you’ll get a very good bond. Flux is the cleaning agent that does that.

It’s the same PCB used for Ruby / Sapphire. They didn’t change the date. You can figure out when the actual game was manufactured by looking at the 4 rectangles on the back of the board. It’s the date code.
