a lot of people do this for (to my knowledge) one of two reasons. 1. It's easier to warp the imperfect timing out when you know where each individual word is. 2. it makes it wayy easier to automate autotune when you can clearly see it in graph mode. The biggest problem with this method is it sounds even more robotic than it would if you just punch in every bar, and it makes the 2nd reason almost obsolete in this case, because your melody is not complicated enough for it to matter. Why do _you_ do it this way?

Before you spend this amount of money, you can also record yourself on your phone on BandLab. I started using USB mic connected to my phone and made songs to make sure I enjoyed making music first. Eventually I did upgrade though
