That’s a loaded question. Depends on how close. Crapes are a fibrous plant and very forgiving of done at the right time. Mid fall to early mid winter is the best time. The roots will build even though the leaves are off. You would not want to do this if the ground is frozen or will freeze within a 2 weeks of planting

Hmmm I don’t know what is available to you in Australia. You would need a fungicide that list anthracnose on the label for ornamental trees. That’s here in the states. Unfortunately I don’t know the pesticide laws in your country

@@fescueme1081 i know people who apply a separate phosphorus treatment because it is not included in any locally sold fertilizer products. As a matter of fact online sellers are not allowed to ship fertilizer containing phosphorus to Michigan addresses either….indoor gardening centers sell it separately for plants and it can be sprayed on your lawn. I understand the necessity to protect the Lakes and waterways…but the environmentalists are lunatics who always take it too far. It’s is September 30th in Louisville Ky , do you recommend still seeding this fall with all the heat or dormant seeding in November ? depending on what you use. I have been told by multiple dealers that the sthil oil has the stabilizers already mixed in. Sometimes I stabilize it and sometimes i dont. Thanks for this whole series. I’ll need to watch the 2nd one a couple more times but you did a good job making something this complex more understandable. My question is how safe of an assumption is it to treat your entire property (say 1-2 acres) based off of a soil test? In other words, how much variance in soil condition can there be within a certain area?
@windyknolllandmaintenance1993
@windyknolllandmaintenance1993 5 жыл бұрын
So there can actually be a lot of variance. Take the average yard. The results are only as good as the sampling. Remember you are trying to average 2,000,000 pounds of soil if you take samples up to 6" deep. The more samples the more accurate the average. 1,000,000 pound for a 3". Research the term plow furrow slice to understand this more. But I Digress. So the average yard they recommend 4 individual soil samples for each quadrant assuming a square yard. You would be surprised the difference just in that. Then if you have a troubled spot you sample just that spot by itself. In large Farming this is why the GPS guided tractors have increased the yields. They take samples on grids. Then they apply the nutrients based on the results of the grids. Sorry for the lengthy answer but it is actually a lengthy topic. I may actually add a video to the end of this series discussing it. Thanks for the idea :)

@@windyknolllandmaintenance1993 The line "imported to the states" should be your cue😂. In Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Farmers, golf courses and sod farms can access most chemicals but even then, the cost to register and relabel in two languages keeps many companies from sending stuff here, also the market is smaller because of population. I am in 7b but with the opposite rainfall cycle. Constant rain in winter and very low light levels, but light first only.....then three or four months of drought in summer.

@@windyknolllandmaintenance1993 Anyways it is what it is. Dogwood is our provinces official flower and the native trees are covered by a tree protection order. This means developers can't cut them down and must work around them. The city puts a deposit on your building permit, if you finish building and the street trees and any protected species are not damaged, you get your money back. Thanks to old fashion horticultural work folks with large nurseries have selected individuals that aren't so effected by disease and drought and propagated them. Just the same as turf scientists do, find that plant that is still doing well when others around it die. You are fortunate that this is not necessary in your location because of your use of chemicals. We use other means to reduce disease as well, encouraging air flow by pruning, and making sure to not over fertilize.
