I couldn't figure out where my roof was leaking after numerous rain storms. Finally i took out a loan and bought 136 five gallon buckets of roof tar. I covered the whole roof and the whole chimney and all the bricks of my home including all the windows. Its really dark in here but no leaks!

Haha every year my roof leaks. Don’t know where does the water get inside. Corked and corked in vain. Im about to apply the extreme tar therapy

Is it wise to have air brick on your chimney stack. The top is capped off, just down want water coming in from there.

Moved in house 3 years ago and finally found a certified chimney sweep and we have 3 rd stage creosote top to bottom, said my options where pcr treatment or knock out tiles and install 6” liner. My question is what do you suggest and does my new liner need to be double insulated because of tiles gone, I appreciate any input sincerely new to fireplace guy

Where would someone find the ball and chain tool? Or is it a custom made sort of thing?
@akaredcrossbow9 ай бұрын
You can find them online, but the best thing to do is hire a qualified chimney sweep to take a look at the situation and make the correct recommendations. It’s better to leave it up to the professionals before it becomes a bigger job and it gets out of control.

This is not what the fire department told me yesterday. The intermittent beeping in my detector is likely due to the device being at the end of its life (10 years) or a dead battery. If the problem was a CO leak, the alarm would sound continuously.
@paulinewoods3753 ай бұрын
The end of the battery lol fe - its two short beeps every 30 seconds. At least with the one that I have , it has been doing it for the last two hrs . It is around 10 years old. And there's no silent button on it. I've ordered a new one.
@sandmanmoderngamer8322 Жыл бұрын
The video you just watched does not present the full truth. Should a carbon dioxide alarm be triggered, your immediate action should be to evacuate your home. Immediately reach out to your local fire department. It's not advisable to remain in the house waiting for the alarm to trigger again.

I bought a 12x8x24 clay flue liner that I want to install for a pizza oven that I am building out of perlite/ Portland cement. The flue is heavy. I was thinking of putting the flue inside the hole I made and securing it with refractory mortar mix. Do you think that once it dries, it’ll hold? Any advice would help!
@rebel28092 жыл бұрын
Are you insane???? If the alarm goes off, you dont open the windows and call it a day. You immediately leave the house, check to make sure everyone is there, and call 911 the FIRST time, not the second time the alarm goes off. For all you know, you have been sucking in dangerous amounts of CO and those extra few minutes in there can kill you. This is common sense, it disturbs me people in this comment section are saying otherwise. THIS IS A BUSINESS KZbin CHANNEL telling you to do business with them. They are obviously trying to make money off you by telling you to do something that is not just dangerous, but downright deadly.
@dgraycroft1 Жыл бұрын
It says to immediately check everyone for symptoms - that’s because when you call emergency services it’s important to be able to tell them if someone needs emergency medical help. It’s not a bad idea to do this outside though - that probably should have been included. If nobody has symptoms it is possible to have false positives on CO alarms, and resetting them will make sure they go off again if there is another exposure. When it doubt always call the fire department
@diavalus6 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same and was scrolling though the comment section to see if anyone else was thinking the same. I'd just check the display (mine has one where it says if it's an alarm (and ppm indication) or empty battery), open the windows if it''s indeed an alarm and get out right away to get some fresh air for a bit. If I would have family members inside the house I'd open the windows and then get them out of the house right away.

A chimney cap should cover the entire top of the chimney to shed water away. That cap is a liner cap and all the water that lands on it is dumped directly on top of the chimney. The flashing should have been replaced, not sprayed with flex seal and the termination of that liner is a joke.

I've seen this done here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5eydGd6o5d5ppo It looks very nice. I hope to do this myself. It just makes sense to put an insulating barrier up at the louver level and not at the front of the hearth because the whole body of the furnace is radiating heat!

As a contractor myself, most homeowner's won't be on the roof, ever. Fix the leaks and the home owners are happy. In your video, that chimney should have a drip edge. Otherwise water dripping down the brick & mortar will cause more leaks.

Thanks for video. My chimney cover is flat and I think contributing to a leak into the fireplace. I am going to add some Bergstrom seal to the interface between cap and flute. Is there anyway to add a”crown” to a flat metal cap?
