It’s Spet 13 2024. Everything President Carter is saying is coming true now. God help us before it’s too late 🇺🇸

It wasn't a "miracle". It was great coaching from a coach who knew hockey inside out. I was playing in college in New York at the time, and when that puck went in the net the eruption from everyone in the room was incredible. I think I hit my head on a 10-foot ceiling.

This movie did make this intro seem rather too busy, with both the cast and crew names, and the historical events surrounding the 70s and such, but in the end, they all shaped America and the world to be what it was, before the 80s came around. I know I wasn't around in the 70s, but I know America was still in a great deal of peril, when it came to politics, finances, wars, scandals, and even certain crimes that came through.

I remember seeing the opening at the cinema. Initially, I thought it was a hockey movie like the Mighty Ducks. Little did I know the story meant a lot to Americans.

Being a Canadian, this being our game and it always will be. It’s impossible not to love what the states did. Nothing is ever going to top Paul in 72…but man, watching what these kids did against a superior team…it’s unreal. Greatest hockey film ever made. Anyone who says otherwise is simply lost.

This was the most important victory in USA team sports history, as well as the biggest upset. Still gives me chills all these years later. Watching as a 13 year old, I had no idea how important this game was at the time, and for decades to come. USA!

For anyone too young to understand why this scene among a handful in this movie bring grown men to tears, i offer the suggestion to search the term David & Goliath with 2 gentle reminders that unlike David & Goliath, this really happened and coincidently, at a moment in time that our country was suffering economically and people had lost hope in themselves and our union.

@RoyalMela3 ай бұрын
Well... Only USA has college sports system. Everywhere else teams have their own junior programs, and in Soviet Union this team was a military team. But the players were not soldiers. They were pro hockey players. 11 months of hockey, living in training centers.
