You forgot Christopher Parkening. Listen to his recordings. He puts more ‘soul’ into his music then any of these and was Segovia’s top student. Just listen..

I believe the last piece was Sor’s Opus 6#11. Played it in some recitals. Although not at that speed. I accidentally bought a Segovia album straight out of the Army in 1975 looking for some acoustic guitar music. I thought ‘maybe this old guy could play something interesting’ Wow! Was I crazy for classical guitar after that. Found an instructor and became obsessed. Ended up with some lessons from two of Segovia’s students! And to think Jethro Tull’s Bourree put me in that direction. Thanks for posting this. I can’t get enough, even at 70 years old 😎

Good for you! Progressive rock introduced classical music to open minded youths. Focus guitarist even played Dowland on lute in concerts. I also switched to classical guitar, 17 hours daily, after hearing Segovia. I jumped right into Granada, Asturias, Capricho Arabe. Crazy but I got them down.. with so many hours the fingers got strong enough. Cheers!

Hello Daniele....thanks for replying.....I'm convinced that someone would have filmed such a momentous occasion....I think that Segovia playing Boccherini second movement is a fabulous find...surely they would have filmed the other two movements?....Same with the Tedesco. Keep up your good work it is much appreciated.

Andrès Segovia and Julian Bream were the Heros of the Guitar and they made the classic guitar popular in the classic music world. Great and wonderful musicians!

As a ten-year old, I had the incredible luck and honor of seeing Ida Presti and Alexandre Lagoya live in concert in Amsterdam. I had just gotten my first guitar as a birthday present and my mom decided if would be good for me to see how it could be used for more than just strumming along with Elvis Presley and Little Richard. The concert turned out to be an unforgettable experience and nothing short of magic. The joyful, rhythmical Villa Lobos compositions in particular made me realize that classical musical was more than just ‘stuffy old Bach organ stuff’. At the same time I realized I could never ever bring myself to practice long and hard enough to remotely achieve even a thousandth of Ida’s unearthly technique and depth. Most people don’t realize that musical talent is one thing, but the talent to practice is another (one I don’t possess). Luckily, three years later I was ‘liberated’ by the Beatles, who showed me - and thousands like me - that a catchy tune, a few chords, a well placed guitar solo and LOADS and LOADS of luck can actually get you a musical career. It’s so cruel that Ida’s career was cut short and that so very few have actually heard of her. Hopefully this and other videos on KZbin will help shed some well-deserved limelight on that incredible force of nature called Ida Presti, truly one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Daniele....we're there ever any films/videos of Segovia playing any Guitar Concertos?...I know there is one of him playing a movement of the Tedesco. Surely there is one of the Ponce Concerto?....my absolute favourite!

Hello Adrian, I didn't find Segovia playing Ponce's Concerto, I'm sorry but I only found audio. There are 180 videos of Segovia I found in these ten years and that I have shared in the playlist dedicated to the great guitarist. Please check out if you find interesting video concerts in my playlists and please continue to follow my videos. Thanks

You can hear his influence heavily in Cristopher Parkening.. his vibrato and choice of notes is similar to Segovia's. But as far as the mechanics of sound production, the timbres, no one comes close.
