If you like military flying, you should know that there is an alternative to the F-5B, the Piper Cub. Affordable, historical and versatile flight It can fly during the day and can also fly at night. It's not a fancy jet-era airplane, but you can feel the feeling of a ww2 army pilot. And let's fly f-5b with rc plane haha 😂

To be honest, it would be best if this F-5A had been painted in Southeast Asia camouflage and in Vietnam air force (VNAF) of former South Vietnam markings as IMHO it was very iconic for the aircraft particularly the yellow/black checkerboard band on the aft fuselage. Now don't get me wrong, the Republic of Korea air force (ROKAF) livery of the F-5A was fine, but when it comes to Northrop F-5A/B Freedom fighter the South Vietnamese was immediately struck into my mind though.

Yes. Very well said. I was a bit disappointed when I realized the the polyurethane aluminum (‘Silver’) was the final finish. Of course that’s just my humble opinion and NOT my F-5A! Cheers!🇨🇦

My dad flew these before transitioning to the F-4E and later F-4G. He’s always dreamed of having an F-5 as his private jet, he loved that little plane.

I thought I recognised this place. I dragged my wife here on our honeymoon. XD Would have been around a year before this video was taken. There was a fantastic NRA-3B there at the time. Kinda pissed I missed the F-5 though.

OK, it's an F-5A coming from main-land USA to Hawaii. Assembled and repainted in Republic of Korea Air Force roundels and paint scheme, what's the story behind that!?

Not many F-5s have served with U.S. forces, and mainly as agressor aircraft, and those were F-5E. There were no U.S. A models. So they painted it up to show an A model flown by a U.S. ally.

the only thing I see that looks like F-5 on this is the intakes other than that I think it is a T-38 with f-5 wings. the front of the F-5 is not shaped like that. I worked on T-38 in the USAF and spent some time on F-5 also. Also C-130s

Mike W Wrong. There’s no such thing as a T-38 with F-5 wings for one thing, never been built. More importantly, the F-5B and the T-38 HAVE THE SAME NOSE (unlike other F-5 models), so that’s not a way to differentiate them. And YES this has F-5 intakes, also something NEVER added to a T-38, and an F-5 drag chute box on the tail. This is EXACTLY what an F-5B looks like, it’s not some imaginary hybrid.

@1:13 -- Yep! It has the Grumman Tomcat emblem on the port (left) vertical tail. There MIGHT be an F-15 parked right by it. You can see what look like horizontal tails, the closest (port) marked with "HH" and ECM(?)/electronics on top of the horizontal tails like they would be on an F-15. It's a C-model... Not a lot of those in museums yet. Most museums that have F-15s have A-models. The F-14 is a D-model according to the museum website.

Again not f5. T38.. F5 had single seat and ywo 20mm cannon on either side of nose. The 2 tandem seat no gun version of the F5 WAS the T38... At least TRY to get it right? If millinneals were to see this then nothing on earth could convince them of the actual truth because millinneals will totally believe WHATEVER they hear or read the first time sern or heard from ANY source..of ine of tgeir buddies had previously told them this was a dc10 then nothing you coukd ever do or say..especially showing incontrivertable proof fact truth-- would EVER FOR LIFE convince them otherwise. In fact if you tried they wouldnt even let you speak tgey would yell over you as you tried call you nazi snf fascist and progressivly lately try to severly hurt you by hitting you in the head with a steel padlock in a sock swung as a mace...even if you are a frail terrified 84 year old woman or 70s old man..be ause of that they claim to be vetrans and attampt to get vets discounts at fast food restarsunts and such. So if you put this in public you have an OBLIGATION AND DUTY now..think of the damage these morons are doing because of false info and facts...

James M. Taylor Wow that’s a huge rant considering you’re WRONG. The T-38 does not have wingtip fuel tanks and cannot use them, it also does not have leading edge flaps on the wing like this F-5B, it also has different shaped engine inlets, it also doesn’t have forward wing root extensions, and it doesn’t have a drag chute box behind the tail like this F-5B. Your giant comment was a waste of time, sorry.

Private pilot? I have an L39 Albatros, maybe i will buy an F5 or T38. You know what is the hourly consumption of kerosene? Or the total hourly cost, to get an idea of the costs of management and maintenance compared to L39.

I wonder why it was at the Air Force base. They never wanted the F-5, said it was too small, but the South Vietnamese knew it to be something else. It was a supreme MiG killer for its outstanding handling and quick acceleration in combat. Someone needs to ask why the Marines are buying up all the F-5 fighters that still fly.

I wish our T-38s had been built with all the structural and performance upgrades the two seat F-5s had. Using such an aircraft only for advanced training, without having it carry heavy weapons loads, would have probably significantly reduced maintenance man hours per flight hour. The increased capability landing gear tires and brakes probably would have doubled or tripled the the number of landings and takeoffs per tire.

No, the T-38 and F-5 were TWO different jets. The T-38 was a 2-seat trainer. The F-5 was a single seat (although they did have a 2 seat version) fighter. The canopy was different on an F-5, the F-5 had twin nose cannons, tip tanks, engine vents on the spine, different engines, etc. The T-38 was strictly a trainer. Even the bug speeds on the two jets differed slightly due to weight and other factors.

F-5B. The T-38 doesn't have leading edge flaps. It also does not have tip tanks. The F-5B has both.

Hi thanks for the video.....I love flying my Freewing 80mm edf F-5.Looks fantastic banking on a fly past at 100 mph,with full missiles mounted.Might be lucky one day and see a full size F-5 in action .Do they still fly ?.

Yes... 2 dozen are used for Red Flag and Blue Flag exercises, by the USAF, at Nellis AFB.
