Hi Maggie! I'm a sophomore pre-med here. Did you do EMT during gap year or during school? Do you think being an EMT will affect schoolwork a lot?

Hello Maggie. Been watching your content for 2+ years since I decided to be a doctor, and submitted my primary application for medical school :) I was really wanting to ask about acceptance with a low GPA, specifically if I should be worried? Got a 3.18 cc GPA and a 3.4 science GPA after a 3.95 post bac with a strong upward GPA. Freshman and sophomore GPA were really bad, but got a 3.89 GPA from my university after transferring. Got a 507 MCAT second attempt with a low CARS. Realistically, should I be worried about not having a shot at an allopathic medical school? Sorry for the load of information, and congrats on all your successes. Your content is inspiring a lot of people :)

Sounds like you have a GREAT upward trend! As long as you took upper level science courses in the post bac, it sounds like you have done all that you can GPA wise that is in your control. You can definitely get accepted with those stats and the next step would be to look at all the other aspects of your application and improve any other weaknesses. For me it was adding in clinical experience because when I first applied I didn't have any! Best of luck! :)

@@itslifebymaggie hello Maggie! Thank you for the encouragement and support - I’ll be sure to update you :) you’re gonna be a great physician, it’s so evident through the work you’ve put in. My AMCAS application has been verified, but I didn’t know how GPA’s were calculated for each semester. Though the last 90 units have been a 3.8 for me, I have another 100 units that averaged lower earlier on, so the GPA distribution isn’t good and only shows for my Senior and Postbacc GPA on the AMCAS application. Initially, I thought the junior and senior GPA’s would be based off the credits I earned and excelled in when I transferred to university - I know it’s a lot of information, but regardless of how the numbers appear on the AMCAS, there is still a strong upward trend and I’ll keep my faith! Sincerely, thank you for the response and encouragement!

Also, unfortnately I was wrong about the science GPA. The science GPA through AACOMAS (DO application) is a 3.4. For AMCAS, it's a 2.99 though, which puts me just barely below a 3.00. My post bacc counselor said he would send an email letter to my medical list in regards to me due to that cutoff GPA. I'll continue the prospects though.

Hey Maggie, for content review sample schedule, you said read chapter 7&8 from 10am to 12:30pm. So you recommend continuing to biology chapters 9&10 for the next day or would you think it’s better to switch to a different Kaplan book?
@itslifebymaggie3 ай бұрын
Great question! So for me, I would do a different subject the next day BUT that isn't to say you couldn't continue biology the next day if that is what worked for you. I liked to have my 3 day rotation because then I felt like I was learning everything equally versus getting really good at one subject and not even starting one of the subjects until I was done with a whole book in another subject. So for me I had that "bio/chem/psych" rotation so if bio day was biology Ch. 8&9, then the next day would probably be gen chem ch. 8&9, then the next day psych ch. 8&9 Then I would restart my rotation, except then I would probably do biochem ch. 8 & 9 on bio day, ochem chapters on chem day, and sociology chapters on "psych" day. THEN the following three days I would go back to that bio book. so bio day = ch. 10 & 11, chem day = gen chem chapters... and so on. Hopefully that makes sense! So "bio" day included biology and biochem books and "chem" day included gen chem and ochem books
@itslifebymaggie3 ай бұрын
oh and since physics also falls under the "chem" section, I would sometimes do it on chem days and sometimes do it on psych days since psych is a pretty easy section and didn't need as much time/attention as the others did

You're bragging about being "accepted" for being unqualified? If you had any sense of shame, you'd be embarrassed by that. Racial handouts.

I’m so surprised by you, this was not me in med school. I was always studying but inefficiently 😢 looks like you are a business woman and a med student. A thing I don’t understand is it sounds as if you had business expenses and you paid them with the profit you made so sounds like it net I am not sure I did not get that part.
