Thankfully I caught him live, on tour, 5 times; from their Texas Flood Tour, opening for the Moody Blues, to his final one, co-headlining with Joe Cocker. This is early ‘87, you can see in his eyes that he was still using. It was great to know he beat that monkey…swinging clean & mean, at the end‼️

Love you always from Monterey Bay. You rocked the world baby! I listen to him or think of him every day and it ignites my willingness to practice. I'll never be great but its about tapping into your instinct and now I have a musical family. Life changing. As the Stones song says "You keep me rocking"! All my family passed and we have a solid music scene out here so its very healing to have a home in the music particularly if your a girl.

This was about the nadir of rock music for me ..1987? 1988? Indie dying , melodic retro dead, nunwave alt dead, AC/DC seemed like parody, LA hair metal a joke, and all the lyrically poetic stuff of England gone.. Elvis Costello, Nick Cave had passed their prime. Then in ‘88/‘89 a new world started. Technology drove hip hop to the main in the states, techno dance in Europe, acid house in the UK. By 1990 it was a joke to be the guitar man.

He is was a picture of humbleness and manners, siuthern gentleman. His mama did a great job on both those things shaping him into the man he had become. God bless him for overcoming his drug and alcohol addiction and conquering those demons. Nothing but love for this man, miss him being here still. ❤

He rarely throws out Doyle's name in public interviews, yet he was Stevie's co-writing brother from back in the hood. We can even hear a bit of Doyle's vocal phrasing on every SRV album.

imagine he was calling music rubbish back then and there was actually some good music being put out up until around 01 . but especially in the mid 80s to 1990. now it's all total rubbish. trash. hip hop has even been over saturated. so sad. I wonder if we are still in a vaccume from losing so many pop icons or artists if you will to AIDS and drugs. whatever the cause it's all gone to hell. I'm sure some 20 year old or younger will try to argue. what a joke.😂
