What are the measure of the plane? Wingspan? Leng? What is the total weight of the plane? What propeller does the engine have installed?

Are you really certain about your cylinder arrengemnet but I guess you have cheked it...? On my self made 7 cyl I compensated for this by different angels for the slave con rods and now all cylinders are equaly spaced!
@Noeggi19542 ай бұрын
By spaced I mean all have their OT always at 360° / 7 x cyl # (1= 0° / 2= 51.43° / 3= 102.6° / 4= 154.3° and so on)

Hi Chris, cool to see you have comparable values to the fg 60 r3. Made a magnet ring and timed to 32 degrees I.s.o. the idiotic 40 of Saito, which immediately improved the run characteristics. Funny to see cylinder 3 having difficulty coming on line…. Same as on the fg 60, so I went for a negative pressure crankcase solution. All 3 cylinders now run very equal. Like you say, it’s strange Saito is not addressing these relative small issues on their otherwise splendid made engines!
@chrisdoingrc2 ай бұрын
Hi, yes I will also try the negative pressure crankcase solution. Thank you for your advice.
@russcole56852 ай бұрын
That idle. Wow 😲. Great running engine. How difficult would it be do you think to add another row behind these engines. Essentially two of these together to make a twin row 6 cylinder, just using the same magnet ring, and a second ignition pick up mounted 180° from the first?
@donaldvantongeren83852 ай бұрын
In my opinion mpossible, you can’t connect the cranks……
@chrisdoingrc2 ай бұрын
I like this thinking! To make this possible you have to make two cranks that you can connect together, and modify ore make a new housing for the rear row. Part this with 60 degrees between the cylinders. Making of the ignition system is the easy part of this.

Why so complicated, I simply converted my KAVAN with the Hall sensor mounted on the engine and a magent on the propeller drive plate. I would never change anything on an engine that can no longer be reversed!!! Carburettor is a WALBRO WT 1114 and the engine runs perfectly.

@@chrisdoingrc My backplates are solid, but maybe because my two engines are originally for Nitro fuel. But since your carb is also the same as my two ones I assume your to be originally a Nitro one as well.

I have Kavan FK50 Mark 1. Nylon idler gear replaced with steel. Yours already had the steel gear. I put castor in the sump. I still put few percentage oil in the methanol. 😂
@chrisdoingrc4 ай бұрын
Yes, I have the mark II upgraded to mark III. I will use 20W mineral oil in the sump and 2% oilmix in the gasoline. I will try to use the original carb sins it has adjustment of the movement of the main needle. I will however add a pump driven from the crankcase pulses, like the perrypump. All of this is coming up in the next video.

Interesting video, i see at the start the engine has a single glow carburettor, i have good success with the saito glow carburettor with gas conversion, i know the walbro style are very problematic to get running right across the rev range
@chrisdoingrc4 ай бұрын
You are correct. Saito make different carbs and you need the type that you can adjust how much the main needle is moving when the throttle is moved. I have tried gas on a carb that this is not adjustable and the trouble is that it will be very rich in the mid range. It can be a solution to grind a new needle with a less steep taper. The Kavan engine that I`m doing now have this adjustment so it will be interesting to see if we get this to work.
