@@jcsworld69 thanks for the prompt response! I was actually just about to respond again. I got it to work. I was following your guide and another one at the same time (that easy1up softmod) the apks didn’t need to be cloned so all I had to do was get rid of the clones and install the apk’s normally. Everything’s running great, thank you for such a comprehensive guide!

How do you play the retroarch games after the install? Donyou always have to have a keyboard hooked up to access those?

@@validcore you create a shortcut for Retroarch and click it each time you want to play it. Once you have set up everything the Keyboard is not really required. You will need to map the player 2 coin button to one of the Keys. Some games will require the use of the keyboard so that you can add coins for player 2.

So after this softmod that pretty much puts all the atreet fjghter A1UP cabinets into one, I'm still able to play online on the servers like it was still the A1UP cab right

Yes, this guide will help you with. installing Retroarch. Then at around the 16:45 mark make sure you install the Super Nintendo Cores (e.g Snes9x …etc)

So I have installed the other APKS and got retroarch up and running however notice on retroarch arcade roms have noticeable slow down and stuttering, the few games I have played are Aliens Vs Predator and Bubble Bobble, I am using the fba neo core. Dreamcast seems to run well apart from DOA2 but I have read elsewhere this is a difficult game to emulate on the MVC2 Cab via flycast. Surely FBA neo emulation shouldnt be this bad or am I doing something wrong?

Hey Bruv, Weird … for me AVP runs well. Have you tried using a different core? I just keep trying different cores until I find the best one for the ROM and then set it as default.

Hello, thank you for the tutorial. Finding apks and setting up the retro arch was pretty time consuming but eventually I was able to install everything. I have several problems after installing everything: 1) Everytime I launch the Yoga Flame or Big Blue APKs they are resetting the Nova Launcher as a default launch application - it's funny this problem doesn't persist when I lauch the original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 APK. The problem is a little bit disturbing because when Nova Launcher isn't a default launch app double tap LIVE shortcut doesn't work and I have to use mouse + keyboard to change the launch app. Did you have a problem like this? 2) I'm having a problem with launching a Dreamcast Retroarch Flycast: do I need to upload a Dreamcast bios to android version of retroarch? I tried to launch a Soul Calibur ROM and it says it doesn't recognize the game :/ 3) Is it possible to launch Retroarch roms from microSD directory? I purchased a microSD card to put all my roms there but I don't know how to set it up. Thank you for the tutorial, I'll be very grateful if you help me with these issues :)

Apologies for the delayed response. 1. ) No, I don’t have that issue. Have you tried resetting it back to default and reinstalling the APKs? Maybe that will resolve the issue. 2. I haven’t installed the Dreamcast, so I’m not sure. On the comments @goodwinsretrovertigo6197 confirmed that Flycast runs pretty good with the exception of DOA2. 3. Yes, it’s possible just load up the ROMs on the SD card. Create a Folder called ROMS on the SD card and add all the ROMs. Insert the SD card into the cab and launch Retroarch. Run the core. Then in Retroarch select Load Content: /Storage/The SD card will be called an eight digit number ####-####. Select that then find the RoMs folder, launch the ROM.

If anyone is as annoyed with the audio hiss / white noise as much as I am, especially at low volumes, I managed to resolve in in most part with one of those cheap transparent grey USB to 3.5mm audio adapters that you can pick up for $1 (I've heard others work, though). It works on almost everything - RetroArch, Yoga Flame, Championship Edition apps etc, no hiss, and is slightly quieter so you have more low volume settings rather than lots of booming loud settings (the volume control on the front still works). Unfortunately the exception is the original MvC2 app, which appears to be crashing the USB audio driver every time you start it up. The adapter completely stops working in all apps until you reboot the cab. As a work-around I've got a USB hub and 3.5mm audio extender cables hanging out the back of my cab, so if I want to play the MvC2 app I can unplug the speakers from the USB adapter and plug the speakers into the normal port on the controller board (through the extender cable). The alternative is to plug the speakers directly into the headphone jack on the front, which also eliminates the hiss, but that's not a pretty solution. I've heard people have unscrewed the headphone connector behind the joystick panel so it's loose within the cab and you can plug the speakers into that, but it means you lose the headphones option. Also not sure if it's just me, but as you've plugged a USB device in you'll probably have to put up with the "key chain has stopped" message most times you start up.

Hmm, Where do you have it plugged in? Try plugging it into another outlet/source. If that doesn’t work try another cable.

@@joeystormtrooper yeah, I had to do that because there aren’t enough buttons to map to it. For some games like Punisher, TMNT, Simpsons, Alien Vs Predator etc… the coin button for player 1 will work for player 2! However for other games like TMNT Turtles in Time, you would need to have the keyboard plugged in to insert credits for player 2. I have a Rii wireless keyboard hooked up to it, whenever I need credits for player 2 I turn it on.

"Front Street" is actually a "nick name" for Avenida Hicaco. Our "cab driver" coming in from the airport told us the three north/south streets are referred to as "Front, middle (Avenida Langosta) & back (Alux Street) street". So you're not entirely incorrect. LOVED our time - so relaxing and laid back. People are great, food is great and the concept of "Go slow" is perfect for vacation time! Cheers!

Hey Jorge… are you using a hub? Try connecting the keyboard directly to the PCB or try a different keyboard.
