That space between the prop and the adapter needs to have washers to fill the gap, as weeds will fill the gap and hamper the water from the start of the prop

I have a question that I just can’t find an answer to. I taped my prop and ran it without a cavitation plate. I didn’t gain any speed instead I lost speed. I have an xl and I have a 6 1/2in prop on. I have a short transom and no jack plate. I’m assuming it’s the angle I have it on. So the question here is. It only moves my boat when prop fully submerged, so what am I doing wrong? At full throttle it picks up but as soon as it hit 5mph I feel the boat speed bog down and the prop does not ride the surface of the water. It doesn’t pull either way either. I’m ready to give up. On this twister. Also it’s a 420cc.

@@Joe_DMZ over time you can, this is just a way to get people dialed in for maximum efficiency. It's also good data to write down so you know what adjustments to make for different loads and save you time by taking all the guess work out of it. Having it set up before you even start the trip instead of making adjustments on the water. Just take the time to do it once with different props and trims so you're not fiddling around with it as much after.

@tylerczekaj860
@tylerczekaj860 Жыл бұрын
@352fishing4 I'm getting about 20 mph with 2 people and gear but we both need to be on back seat. One on front speed drops to 16 because it plows. Solo speeds aren't great around 17 because I need more weight in the back to prevent it from plowing. Usually fishing with a friend though. It has to be either the trim or a hook in the hull
@postb8822
@postb8822 Жыл бұрын
So by adding weight to back you are trimming the bow up, if your prop height is ok, but your bow is heavy, then you need to lower your motor and raise the trim up to the right height again which will give your prop more up angle (or less down angle) Depending on how big your boat is, you may just need more weight in the back as a twister setup isnt very heavy relative to an outboard.

awesome video. exactly wat i needed.. iM GONNA MAKE A VIDEO OFTHE STOCK 3X BLAD VS 2 BLADE, AND SIZE COMPARSION ON ROCKY RIVERS SOON... ANYONE WITH A TWISTER (TWISTER CLONE) W/ 3BLADE STOCK PROP, READ THIS.. got a twister today first run, ALL STOCK, (ITS A TWISTER W/ GX200 CLONE OFF AMAZON) but its literally the exact smae as my buddys mud-skipper tiwster. only difference IS THE HANDLE DESIGN I COULD SEE.., an i got a g200 clone motor for free lol for the $$. i guesss we'll see how the clone twister lasts.. vs, mudskipper twister... ANYWAY, I PUT IT ON MY 30" WIDE 11FT Flat bottom on a fast moving river, And its a awesome setup. BUT i think the 3x blade OE prop is garbage for a twister. It either wont grab any or enuff water when set up near surface, and wont hardly push boat.. If i trim it down a bit below, it pushes like crazy, lots of thrust, but it does not have the speed. (still goes about 8 ish?mph) But i was a lill dissapointed. the 3x blade acts more like a blender, just chopping water.. hadta keep messing with trim.. (next mod is some sort of easy adjust trim) after i do 2blade prop... and lots of cavitation, vibrtation.. Also, i dont get any more speed bewtween 2/3 throttle or full throttle. I imagine this is why the 2blade props work best. its hard too dial in the 3 blade prop.. Its either, just mashin and splashing at surface, then just lower it and it grabs like a mofo.. But above 30-50% throttle, it doesnt seem too move much faster.. if down deep, like 4inch below the wake, it has lots of vibrations ,cavitations.. an feels like it slips (hitting different curents of water etc) -like a tire hitting ice spots on a roads. Especially in rivers.. I did get a 7" 2blae prop, Im goin too tap it, and install, I really hope, that it brings up the performance and smooths out everything.. I bet it will after watching so many videos of these longtails/twisters.. But yes the 3blade prop will get you moving on the water, and it would prob work great for a giant pontton boat, and in deeper water, with large heavy boats in ruff water, and since you only need about half the power, at 30% throttle, it stays steady and pushes hard.. Be great for puttin along.. savin fuel..or if you just wanta cruize and troll' fish.. But for speed, and smoothness, i can see a 2x blade swap is gotta be it.. The 3 blade mite work ok on a true LONG-long tail, were its far away from wake, of boat Tail, but its not great on a twister and small boat.

Great video. I really like the beginning where you show how the trim should be for optimal performance. I’ve been referencing your videos to try and dial mine in and it seems the prop has to be fully submerged atleast 3-4 inches to actually hook up and move the boat reasonably. Only seeing 13 mph max on a twister xl kit with an 8’ prop. Predator 420cc motor and 14’ v hull boat. Any suggestions?
@playinlikejimi
@playinlikejimi Жыл бұрын
Each hull and weight is different and reacts differently. Aside from checking out my other video explaining how I get them dialed in, I don't have much advice other than keep trying and track every change you make so once you find the sweet spot you can get back to it every time.

Can you easily secure it with prop out of water say to float down stream?
@playinlikejimi
@playinlikejimi Жыл бұрын
The 420cc is heavier on the engine side so it naturally sits with the prop out, and you can easily make a little loop with string to hold the 212 out of the water, but you also shouldn't have much of an issue drifting with it in the water if the motor is off.

What’s the advantage to having the twister set up vs a surface drive or long tail or even an outboard?
@playinlikejimi
@playinlikejimi Жыл бұрын
They all have their advantages. The benefits of each in nutshell: Outboard: quiet, smooth, easiest to operate Longtail: simplest design, versatile Surface Drive: easier to operate than Longtail, more versatile than outboard. Cons: Outboard: not good for shallow water, mud, weeds, logs, ect Longtail: challenging to operate Surface Drive: heaviest, more moving parts and maintenance, more parts that can break. Twister is a fair balance between Longtail and Surface Drive. Very light, easy to operate, and simple design and maintenance.

I turn the trim bolt all the way in, spin it around, wrap the skeg in a towel, and tie it to one of the ribs on the boat, then the ratchet strap I use to hold the boat down goes over the tail and I use the excess to do a clove hitch around the tail shaft.
