How does the motor trailer? Will it spin around and sit in the boat like a regular long tail? Im wanting the 13/16hp version but I don't want to have to pull the motor off the plate/transom to trailer it.
@playinlikejimi4 жыл бұрын
Mine would hit. I had to take the screw out that holds the frame on the transom mount whenever I spun it around to give it the extra half inch or so it needed, but didn't need to take it off the transom completely. Eventually I built a jackplate for pretty cheap to take care of that.

Which mod do you mean? This particular engine is using the 2-blade props and the engine is fairly modified. If I were you, I'd stick with a relatively stock engine and test out different props and weight distribution. Check out my other video on how to dial it in. After you're getting the most out of it that way, then start looking into engine mods.

Do you have to keep prying up on the steering arm with a twister as you would with a longtail, @ wot
@playinlikejimi5 жыл бұрын
No, the shorter shaft doesn't have as much leverage working against you trying to surface the prop, and it has an adjustable trim so you can set how deep it can go. That's one of the biggest advantages this has over a long tail, it's so much easier to drive.

Not with the new props. I haven't been able to get out much this year to get some more videos up, but hopefully I can soon. It's been a while, but I was able to get it out a few weeks ago for a couple runs. With this motor setup, it actually does best with the smaller prop. It gets it higher in the RPM range where it makes the most power. With my stock motor however, it does real well getting about 15 mph with a 7.5" prop and empty boat and 8mph with a 6 1/4" prop, regardless of weight. Not fast, but very torquey. I had over 750lbs in the boat and it still reached the governor and did 8mph.

@playinlikejimi6 жыл бұрын
In the same creek I got 11.2 MPH upstream, 13 MPH downstream with a stock motor. Then 12.9 MPH and 15.7 MPH with a stage 1 and governed. With stage 3 and governor removed I actually lost speed and could only get 15.3 max. I was very disappointed and didn't male a video. But the reason is because my powerband shifted to the higher RPM range, but I couldn't get the motor up into that range. First time with the new prop I almost fell down because I wasn't expecting that much power that fast.

@@playinlikejimi Thanks for your quick reply. Apparently there is something tragically wrong with my initial setup, or it's the giant Lab riding in the front of the boat. This is with a 6.5 inch. I haven't gotten out enough to test the bigger ones, but this seems to be a good match for my setup. Since I have billet internals and the governor removed I can rev higher, so a smaller prop gets me into a good power range. With the boat fully loaded I get about 15-17mph at 5600rpm, but I prefer to cruise around 4500 for a little less wear and tear. I think I'm going try a 6.5 inch weedless prop, they have a little more pitch to them.

It's the mud motor pipe from NR racing. The Briggs muffler that comes with it isn't that good though, I've had a few and they've all fallen apart. Now I use the Briggs Lo-Tone muffler (part number 393010S) and I'm happy with it so far.
