Once you tune the car there is no going back to stock. Also this car is never going fast in a straight line compared to xyz. If you take it to the track you will see the HP is not everything. This thing is a grip monster and in the turns is where you will really see what a beast of a car it is. Most people will never experience this and only repeat what others are saying.

I don't usually do tunes or mods on daily driver cars because the stock is literally the manufacturer-recommended settings for optimal power in any environment and if you plan on keeping your car as long as possible then I highly recommend never mod or tune your car. Because if you make more horsepower, you will always need support mods to compensate for the increase in hp. Plus that extra performance will strain the engine and reduce its longevity eventually needing to replace an engine, turbo, or transmission even loss of performance. People who have modded and tuned cars use it as a hobby meaning they have extra cash to burn and are willing to spend compared to people who just want to go A to B. I had a friend who heavily modified and tuned a car, did the break-in and check period, and one day the engine literally popped a piston or something. He was stranded in the mountain desert with no reception at all so he couldn't get help until a passerby picked him up. Theory crafting of why that happened I just assumed it was due to high elevation and an overheated engine. Because due to high elevation that means there is less oxygen in the air and the car is compensating by working harder sucking in air. We even figured he was also going downhill meaning the engine was overworked and probably misfired due to overcompensating the combustion chamber with the ECU. It doesn't matter if your tune was done by a professional, all cars have their limits and the tune was literally for your area or racetrack. Not anywhere in the world like the manufacturer designed it from stock. The dude literally bought a new car and only did minor things like spoilers and coil-overs/suspensions, and btw there is no fun in CA even if you just swapped to an open-air intake or modified exhaust/tip if it passed a certain decibel or don't have a code sticker for your aftermarket part you either get a fix-it ticket back to stock and have it inspected at the DMV. If they catch you again, it's a matter of time before you get your license suspended if you rack enough points.

The car owner definitely doesn't have to do any mods to their daily driver if they don't want to. You can tune your car to be more fuel efficient, to get a vallet map so no one can drive your car hard, and if you upgrade your map sensor you can get a tune that works in any elevation from Colorado to Florida. Just because you tune your car doesent mean it'll explode in the desert. It's an option people can take if they don't want to buy a 60k car when they could buy a 28k car and put 3-5k of mods on it to make it more fun.
@BloodhedgeKSK
@BloodhedgeKSK Күн бұрын
@@DarkShak Yeah true, but tuning doesn't affect fuel economy that much. Most people I know only get a 1 mpg difference just for buying an access port and getting it tuned which the money isn't worth it, to be honest. There is little to no effect on performance since street "stock" tunes adjust timing and a bigger throttle response making an increase in torque starting stationary like from a red light. Race (modded) tunes beat and wear on the engine harder which increases its wheel horsepower. The guy I mentioned who had his engine blown, did everything to make sure the car didn't commit sudoku including upgrading his map sensor and not cheating out on parts. As I mentioned, every car has its limits and the dude went heavy on mods past stage 2-3. He learned his lesson and moved on, the engine wasn't brand new when he had it and only modded with around 40k miles with no codes. We don't know what happened, but most car mechanics would still recommend not modding your car that heavy since anything can go wrong on a sunny day. They're more than likely to recommend an engine swap of an older model with a newer engine as long as it fits.
@DarkShak
@DarkShak Күн бұрын
@@BloodhedgeKSK Things can go wrong with modification of a car, yes that is true. People who do it know that getting into it, people who don't want to take on the risk don't. I don't get why you harp on why it's so bad. I mean it is understandable to get a car that has the stock horsepower from factory that you want as your end result, it will provide the most reliability. I think people already know that and if they want a car to just go from a to b they'd make a different choice in what car they get or keep their car stock, when others want to upgrade their daily for fun.

Nice. Love that you went back and forth to compare. I have been tuned since the end of Sept '23 (about 15K miles tuned, 20k total) and still love it every day. There is just something about the driveability and linear power that makes the VB/FA24 so much fun to drive once making some power. It has a small V6 feel to it. FA20 even tuned always felt like a 4 banger all 2.0L. FA24/VB is just a different beast. Anyone who hasn't driven one and is a fan of the WRX really needs to.

I have 2022 WRX SPT which is CVT automatic and this is the only car that I had an issue from all the other makes, I actually never had this happen even on ford or chevy and mitsubishi, what happened to me is I was driving my 2022 WRX SPT when it had about 18K and while I was sitting on red light had my foot on the brake and it lurched forward and shut off, I did not make anything of it. Second time I was sitting in traffic fully stopped had my foot on the brake an the car started driving very slowly forward, I pressed the brake again it did not stop the car, I took it out of Drive and put it in Neutral, still continued moving forward, I was about to press the E brake but ran out of time and hit a semi truck. I will never buy automatic Subaru again or any CVT. Dealer could not find anything wrong with the car. I'm new to WRX. Bought my 1st one this month. It's a '24 WRX base with sti sts & eyesight. I've heard this generation is "best" WRX as of late. If so, yikes. This car is just above mediocre. Paid 33k with 25 miles on it. It's my new car in 8ish years. It's a good lil slowbaru but nothing like my IS F. I'd rather drive my 92 tercel or 92 s10 (both standard). I don't like the eyesight, low MPG (best was 30), & something else I can't quite grasp yet. It's fun to go around a round-a-bout at 40 MPH but that's about it. Out of my 5 cars. 2010 IS F, 92 tercel, 24 WRX, 92 s10 & (because it's not being used) my '80 sierra grande. Only reason why I bought it because the dealership gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. 2.9% @ 513/month.

The car wasn’t designed to be fast right out off the lot. It was designed for torque; slow into a corner and fast out. The engine and turbo were redesigned to be more efficient to be able to take small increments of boost and power upgrades for that torque and power before large upgrades. The turbo now has an electronic waste-gate that can be adjusted for example. The car has been designed for cornering not dragging; most owners buy it and expect to launch it like they are on a drag strip. That’s not the purpose of this car. The eyesight was forced when it wasn’t designed for it by the US government compliance starting 2024. The MPG is a common for a Boxer Engine with a Turbo like this; especially when put into a heavier AWD car. The WRX weighs close to some of the smaller SUV’s on the market.

Recently sold my 500whp sti for a 24 mustang gt , and honestly enjoy the driving experience a lot more. If awd isn’t required where you live I’d say the mustang is the better car in terms of performance, looks, modabilty. They get similar gas mileage, are in a similar price bracket depending on options. The newer mustangs (2015+) also handle extremely well if the drivers actually take the time to practice and learn the do’s and dont’s of rwd.
