Nice video. It's hard to capture these candid clips of accipiters in the wild.

my cat drowns everything in water... he literaly puts live mice in water bowls... i dont think the guy is right about "protecting his food".... there is something instinctual to it

He wasn’t washing it, he was protecting his food. My German Shepherd does the same thing with his ball. He sets it in the water while he drinks so our other dog won’t take it while he’s distracted.

How often do you guys have to refill the water supply? Since these are big animals that do need t drink a lot...
@sandymarienagy4395Ай бұрын
Good question. We fill it at least every other day unless that javalinia have been by and then usually the next day because they stick their feet inside and get it really dirty and sometimes even empty it completely out. So it depends on who comes by and the temperature for example in the summer to Javelina‘s will stick their noses under the bowls and tipped them over and then laid in the mud because they’re hot every week we wash the bowls out with bleach to guard against diseases.

one question, am reading 120 degrees is that correct
@sandymarienagy43952 ай бұрын
No, not correct. For some reason when the cam is in the direct sun, it registers much higher. I don't think we got to much more than 90 or so this week. Good catch, though, I didn't see that when editing.

Oh, so you're the reason the coyotes keep coming back. Sure hope none of them kill someones pet or hurts a child. Feeding wild animals is never a good idea, your misguided concern is going to get someone hurt...
@sandymarienagy43952 ай бұрын
We don’t feed coyotes. Secondly, coyotes live in this area because we are right next to the open desert. If people live in these areas it’s best to adjust accordingly and keep pets out of harms way or don’t have pets. Coyotes were here first and I imagine they’ll be here long after we’re gone.

People complain about cats being in their gardens, but cats will kill, rabbits, snakes, mice, rats, moles, squirrels etc.

I don't think either one knew the other was there. I know the coyote didn't care. They are pretty used to seeing people and stay out of their way.

We'll do it as long as we can. However, our homeowner's association insists that water draws animals into the neighborhood which is the animals home territory to begin with. While Arizona Fish and Game tells us it is not illegal to put out water (they actually encourage it) the State says not to draw animals into your neighborhood. We place the bowls way out of the way next to a riparian area, but we may still be forced to take them away. I truly thank those that support this channel and hope that we can continue to provide water for animals and birds, especially during the hot dry months. Thanks for your kind comment. Sandy

@sandymarienagy43955 ай бұрын
He does indeed, but does seem in pain. That's one thing the Tucson Wildlife lady asked about - was he lying on the ground, did he look underfed? She said it would be really hard to find him, but then again, he seems to come around pretty frequently in the early evenings. I think I'll start making a log of when we see him. Thanks for your comment!
