I remember one of the funniest leaks that turned out to be true was a guy who tried explaining Cramorant as a bird that has Pikachu in its mouth a good while before official news started breaking for Sword and Shield, and those little anecdotal claims are usually the ones to look out for. An official grass-fairy mega for Meganium would be such fan wish-fulfillment, since every fan artist has posted their idea of exactly that. personally these leaks feel dubious at best and very carefully thought out fakes at worst

The fact that ベビーロン changed after it got pointed out it was incorrect just proves the leaker didn't understand Japanese.

Folks, EVERY "leaks" are fake. Real leaks only come out about a week before the release of the game due to pre-release versions meant for gave reviewers, some content creators etc. Yes there have been cases of real leaks much earlier in a game's hype cycle (eg. the final stage evolution of the Alolan starters or Pawmot), but y'all should still not turn into literal sheeps and believe every "leak" is real.

Honestly it doesn't even need the baby Drampa to know it's fake. Not only is it trying to imitate Kaka's leaks which already makes it suspicious but no 4chan leaker ever posts more than one real leak before disappearing forever.

To be bluntly clear about this, when I lose access to Palworld after Nintendo sues Pocketpair for what in the West would be called "completely made up reasons", I'm going to start picking individual Nintendo customers and suing them for my $30 back. Whether or not you win the suit in the end, it'll end up costing you $30000 over ten years to attempt that win. Supporting a company that attacks unrelated people directly is a choice. A choice that you'll end up having to support in court.

Let me say this much for sure if this pattern actually works I can see major companies from foreign countries pulling out of Japan as now it's going to be too risky to have any assets in Japan as we now know that Nintendo is willing to copyright gameplay ideas which should not be copyrightable I can imagine many American companies such as Microsoft and Activision and other country companies like Ubisoft leaving Japan if they have any jobs in Japan after all none of these companies want to be potentially sued by Nintendo that's my two cents and here's my opinion the Japanese law is extremely outdated in terms of copyright more outdated than any of our countries lol to be frank the people defending Nintendo are just shells and no I'm not just talking about the Japanese community I'm talking about any Nintendo fan from the US UK France or fucking Japan this isn't about protecting the property to Nintendo this is a fight for control over the industry I mean for God's sake they literally make the patent days before suing is the developers behind powerworld if they really cared about their property they should have done this decade ago lol Not that it would be seen as a good all I'm saying is they don't care about intellectual property they care about getting rid of competition which I'm pretty sure is illegal in America and in the UK just saying

I've generally disregarded Japanese comments on it because their culture basically breaks their necks into constantly holding it down and to just a cog in the wheel. If you have any social clout, you aren't going to speak out against one of the biggest names in the country and get blacklisted. Just look at how Nintendo forbade even REPORTERS from talking about Palworld. Actual news companies. So you'll have to excuse me when I say that Japan's reaction to the lawsuit is worth less than the dirt on my boot.

Japan's culture is vastly different than that of the Western world, the rich in Japan have conditioned their working class citizens to believe anything they say is close to the truth, and they're willing to bow to it. Even if you told Japanese Nintendo fans that Palworld made their game before these patents even existed, they would still argue in Nintendo's favor because they've been conditioned to act like that since their early years.

Now one thing that I was unaware of, which I feel like is F'd up, is being able to patent something even if you aren't the first person to have or use the idea. So hypothetically speaking, if I were to create a game with the concept of taking an enemy's power after defeating them in combat, then a year or two later, someone creates a game with the same concept but gets it patented, then they would be able to sue me for IP infringement?

I await MLB to patent the act of throwing a ball in the first place 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣. If this is allowed to pass and Nintendo wins the suit, then it sets up a slippery slope that benefits none other than corporations. Nintendo will continue to produce mediocrity (which is what consumers have come to be comfortable with and thus allowed to become normal) and restrict said mediocrity strictly to their consoles. Nintendo is afraid of PalWorld because it is available literally everywhere EXCEPT on Nintendo (Because they have pokemon, so why would they need palworld). PocketPair brought what was once partitioned strictly as Nintendo revenue to every other platform, AND THEY KICKED IT UP A NOTCH. Nintendo doesn't like this because they are watching dollar bills fly out the window and into the neighbors pocket. If the suit is successful it should be mandatory for Nintendo to release their products on other platforms so as not to be isolationist and relegate people to their console. The same should also go for other platforms such as Xbox, PC, PS etc. "Play what you want to play where you want to play it". Issue being that greedy corporations will never 100% commit to that model because it eliminates the need for the "unique" ecosystem each platform provides 🤷🏻‍♂️

I completely understand both sides. Our laws and the Japanese laws are very different and people react to all of this very differently. Even if I don't think Nintendo should sue Palworld, I think considering their laws and how they think and feel because of their differences in the law, they have the right to feel the need to sue. It might be wrong to us, but things are clearly different over there

Thank you so much for the informative video, Suutamie! I am just going to give you or other commenters my thoughts, which you are safe to ignore if you choose :3 It comes across like Nintendo was unable to find a copyright argument that they think could hold up in court, and are lashing out by weaponizing a patent system which is seen by many as corrupt. I have no knowledge in this area, but I don't believe Palworld has infringed on any patent-and, if they actually have, then the patent system obviously needs changing. I don't think patenting game mechanics should be allowed in the first place unless they are complex and specific enough that it is nearly impossible to accidentally copy one. Imagine needing to be thoroughly aware of every single vague video game patent that ever existed. While I don't claim Pocketpair was drawing no direct inspiration at all from Pokémon (in fact I think it clearly is), I think it's a stretch to say Palworld infringes on a unique invention by Nintendo, and I honestly cannot find an interpretation of Nintendo's patents which would apply to Palworld. Regarding JP7545191B1 (i.e., the ability to choose between aiming & throwing an object to capture a character with a capture success rate indicator, or aiming & throwing an object to send out a character of your own to do battle, etc.)-many people cite Craftopia as an example showing that Nintendo patented existing technology. It wouldn't matter with First to File anyway, but this is not true, since the patent specifically involves both aim to capture & aim to battle, and owned creatures cannot be sent out or battle in Craftopia. Palworld both came out after the patent was first filed and is the first example that I can think of which shows similarities to the patented game mechanic. Palworld has two separate inputs to throw a ball to capture or to send out a creature to battle, whereas the patent seems to specify technology that involves a toggle between two modes so that the same input can do either. Maybe there is something I have missed, but the wording is incredibly dense and I am reading the version translated to English, so I may be wrong. Additionally, it may not need to copy all aspects of the patent to be considered infringing it-I don't know. Regarding JP7528390B2 (i.e., a smoother way to select/transition between mounted creatures) I don't believe Palworld has anything to do with this mechanic-in Palworld you must manually switch mounts by dismounting your previous mount, sending out your desired mount, and then interacting with it. If you have read this far, let me know what you think-especially if you think there's something I've missed! :3

I am probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but I’m on Japan/Nintendo’s side . One not only is it copying Pokémon, but other core features of other Nintendo games franchise. Two this is a clear disrespect because not only where they co-opting with Microsoft but Sony as well and we all know those two companies are struggling because of lack of first party games and any creative ideas they have that is original and they rather. And three why would you make a game that looks child friendly but have guns and the option to butcher or unalive your pals That’s just flat out psychopath tendency? And forth if indie games are allowed to do this then we might repeat history back in 1980s where the game industries crash.

I think the patents are halting video game developement. When game's can't use patents until 20 years have passed, you wont have any good games left. Nintendo is religiously patenting every little thing. I aggree that people's work should be rewarded, but i think this patent rule should be revised and changed. It's not good for the game industry. As a pokemon fan myself, i can say that the quality of their recent games have been completly trash. They have monopoly on these kind of games. Having Palworld here, inovating and changing this theme to something entirely new, is a breath of fresh air. I look forward to Nintendo's next pokemon game, free of bugs and hope it will be fun. I think Nintendo has a lot to learn from Palworld. Another issue i have with Nintendo, is the copyright strikes on small youtube channels. They are technically ruining their only for of income. What Nintendo also have recently done, is shutting down emulators. This makes it so that popular old or new games, which is not avaiable in the west, will be lost forever. Nintendo has all these games, but only a few of them are avaiable on the Virtual Console on Switch. They are losing fans by doing this. They could get a lot of money if they added all these games to Virtual Console. We don't pirate stuff because we want to, but because its a service issue. Nintendo is just neglecting its fans! Sorry for being a bit off topic with this, but i just can't adress this often enough. I hope Nintendo can come to terms and give us in the west a better service than we are currently getting.

The fact the general sentiment is that Nintendo doesn't act on infringement in Japan is all you need to hear. The Japanese community is trying to chime in on something before opening their eyes. Not to mention patenting a game mechanic today so you can retroactively sue another company is disgustingly malicious and something that will only ever work in Japan with their circus level legal system. Imagine, if you will, I decided to patent dodging as a game mechanic and sue retroactively every single game out there that used that mechanic years before I patented it. This is a circus and luckily Nintendo brought all the clown attire. Worst part is due to the wonky Japanese legal system it's likely Nintendo wins and scams a few millions off of Pocket Pair.

While I agree with defence of your own patents I am not blind to Nintendo using them to startle and extort people. The same happens with emulation of their hardware. I can understand going after emulation since it makes playing thpirate copy easier they patent game mechanics that other games implemented before them. I understand they keep the patents to defend themselves and they want to destroy the competition but problem with this is everyone now is going to be frightened to create any game with mechanics similar to their games. They give precedent to other companies to patent and sue developers that infringe on game mechanics in other games. I love Nintendo for what they did for gaming but they now literally stifle others by showing that if you copy their mechanic and not pay them distortion money you are going to get it. People just look at this single situation but if you look at what will happen when they win no game will have flight mechanic on a mount or riding mechanic. They have patents for those mechanics. But there were horse riding games before or dragon flying games before. Hell other games and mods had sphere throwing at enemies to catch them. Though I understand throwing pokeballs is Pokemon identity but still they are making future of gaming worse. Less people will try to copy those mechanics now and there will be less new innovating gsmes in that genre. Thank you Nintendo.
