|Pokemon Legends ZA Debunking Leaks| why the PocketOku Screenshots are fake!

We are still in the middle of a news drought, having heard no new information about the eagerly anticipated Pokemon Legends ZA since its initial announcement in February.
However that doesn't mean we can't enjoy speculation with rumours and leaks.
In this video we will be looking at screenshot "leaks" that were recently uploaded by twitter user PocketOku.
We will be looking at various aspects, particularly the Japanese language used in these images, to determine the likelihood of these images being real or fake.

As someone who kinda knows Gamefreak's character designs and texture work on NPC and characters, everything in the leaks are fake from the start. As mentioned in the video, the sreenshot of Prism Tower is definitely the same model as Smash Ultimate's Prism Tower, doen to the little details that Smash included as well as the trees. There are also some inconsistencies and reused models on those NPCs. In the "select a starter" pic, the "female player" is a reused Backpacker NPC from SwSh. They didn't even bother tweaking the textures. It still has the bold outlines that Gen 7-8 have in their NPCs because details and shadows are baked into the textures as outlines instead of letting the engine use PBR materials. Next is the trainer battle pic. The police NPC screams Pokemon Let's Go Officer NPCs (the ones in the gate building) and the businessman NPC might be from Let's Go as a combination of two misc NPCs or from a spin-off game like Pokken. Lastly is the player trainer facing in front of the house. Again, a modified SwSh Backpacker model but the hair and hat is from BDSP. That's Lucas' hat and hair iirc. Other than that, you could see that the skin doesn't blend between the face and the back of the neck. It's not lighting because that's not how lighting works. Also, I'd like to point out that majoroty of the pokemon in the leaks are actually using SV model, which is impressive considering that these PLA/SV models are here to stay. But the Prinplup and Herdier models are Yeggi models. They are even at the same pose since they're OBJ (unrigged). But anyways, kudos to whoever rendered these fakes in Blender or in Unreal Engine. Fooled the casuals but never fooled the modders, artists, and 3D enthusiasts. Also, majority of the fake leaks in Pokemon are all Westernerns (those in America and Europe) and not a single Japanese person made a fake leak ever.

Yeah there is def a lot of points in the models, I’m not super knowledgeable about that kind of stuff but it all still stood out to me. But yeah the Japanese is always an easy give away too.

Oh I have no doubt people who have experienced with blender were not fooled for even a second. I mainly focus on using Japanese language to debunk these kind of “leaks” because that’s my area of knowledge. But even to someone like me with zero blender experience the actual images looked fishy 🐟

Boredom, too much free time, a bit of fun, test their skills, craving attention. Usually a mixture of these factors I’m guessing

4:38 According to your logic, modern Poké Balls would've only been invented in the 1980s or even the early 1990s, and considering that the first Poké Balls were invented in 1925 and were made out of apricots like in Legends Arceus, this is pretty accurate, although i do admit that we don't know the exact date of the invention of modern Poké Balls, it could indeed be the 1980s or the early 1990s, but it could very well also be the 1970s or even the 1960s, in which case modern Poké Balls would exist in the supposed time frame.

This is correct, but I also feel like game freak would make the pokeballs look different anyway to help show that it’s in an older Kalos. They’d probably make it look like a more modern version of the PLA pokeballs.

It’s still early days, I think we are going to be waiting for quite a while before we can play the actual game. I think once we get some actual official gameplay footage we will be seeing a lot more fun “leaks”

I’ve always thought it would be hilarious if games were to make alternate accounts and post the new Pokémon but make it look like fake leaks. Spoiling your game without people knowing

Maybe the reason why the screenshots are fake because Gamefreak aren't planning to released the trailer for Pokemon Legends ZA until next year in 2025.
