You would happen to know what the chassis material is? Like aluminium or steel? I’ve got one I’m restoring.

Hi, I have an opportunity to acquire one of these beauties. The seller says the arm moves but does not stop at the record to play it. Goes in and back like there is no record type thing. I'd like to know what the issue is before buying it.

Theirs no reason to change the 202c as it’s a high quality boron cartridge with the original stylus or a JICO sounds better than Stanton.

you ground down the idler wheel ! did the play back speed change ? , the diameter on the idler is made to match the playback speeds that are selected , when you ground down the idler wheel this will effect the speeds and not match the factory specs .

Hi, thanks for the video. Small question please, I`m looking for help. By my 1410MKII, the on/off button no longer comes up and stays down. Is this a known problem? Can it be repaired? Thanks

During my search for a tape echo, the Dynacord Super 76 was my main focus, but the WEM Copycat also piqued my interest. I did a lot of research and was excited to try it out, but every seller I contacted warned it was too fragile to ship. It was a big letdown because I had high hopes for this piece of gear. Even though I missed out on it, the Copycat is still on my wishlist, and I’m curious about other products from this brand. I love reviewing vintage equipment, so I hope to get the chance to try it eventually

For those who have this turntable and have come here because of the same problem I'm going to add something helpful that the uploader here either didn't know or forgot to add - The plastic plinth on this turntable shrinks a bit over time and one of the inner posts gets in the way of the linear transfer mechanism and will cause it to jam just as you seen here when he first powered it on, you can remove this plastic post or file it down so that it will no longer contact the carriage and it will run fine. But note those with higher end systems will notice a low frequency thump when the carriage moves. This is caused by the motor torque as it moves the carriage. These turntables had this problem right off the assembly line and were designed for their lower end stackables where it wasn't as obvious but playing on a high end amplifier with lots of bass you will hear a thump around every 6 to 8 seconds. Lubrication will not help as it's a design flaw.

Holy Shit! You still had a working REVOX G-36, 10 years ago? That's amazing! That machine never got used. Those transport control interlocking pushbuttons. They all fail! Mine failed. My G-36 was given to me by my Mentor. He told me those transport pushbuttons would fail. And a few years later. No matter how gentle I was with them. They failed. Just like he said they would. So I'm completely amazed to see a working, REVOX G-36, vacuum tube/valve tape recorder that was still functioning. I'm sure it's not today. I'm sure it's in a landfill now. My had to go to a landfill. About 52 years ago. When those transport control buttons, failed. I thought I could fix them? But no. My mentor was right. He was real good. He was kind of famous. He was so good. He used to work for Bell Laboratories. He used to work for Johns Hopkins University. He was a top engineer. He had some really nice tape recorders. AMPEX, Presto, REVOX,, back in the day. In the late 1960s. When there wasn't anything else. Available in the USA. I would later get all of those myself. And Scully. And 3M. And MCI. Never a student. I had to work on those elsewhere. I didn't want one. They were finicky. You needed to be a Swiss watch repairperson. To work on those. But those REVOX machines. Were great! Never a lick of trouble. Workhorses. That's what they are. RemyRAD

This was a great video. My 15 year old has just inherited her great aunts black box with garrard 210. It's slowly loosening up and the crackling is fading. Your video helped her work out the auto mode and stacking, although currently it stops at the end of each single and you have to turn the turntable by hand to advance the cycle, we think it might work itself loose, but may have to take apart and clean. It could do with a professional refurbishment, but funds are limited. It came with about 300 sixties singles, so she enjoying working her way through those. Thanks again, truly very useful and appreciated

Hi Nick, great video thanks, luckily my 7100 is working well. My 5100 on the other hand has a rotation issue and will only spin if I toggle the speed selector fast, if I leave it set on either speed the platter stops. I assume a clean of the switch and possibly pots will be required but that will have to wait a while. I cannot find a service manual or schematic for the 5100 anywhere, even on vinylengine - I would appreciate any help finding one. Keep up the interesting videos.

I have a 4705 doing the same thing, with toggling the speed selector. I'd love to know what you eventually do to fix your 5100. I have gone through the electronics and it looks like the drive inhibit signal is stuck on, on my turntable.

Fantastic help that was. I bought a sensored motor that was in bad shape, bad enough that i got a full refund & got to keep the motor. The rotor looked like it was stored in maximum humidity somewhere near the equator in thr tropics for a decade unprotected! Not being able to have something sitting around that may be able to be fixed I started to work on it, I found I had a Rotor from the "motor-death-box of spare parts" that was spot on the same. Next I found the sensor test showed the sensors numbers were EXTREMELY far apart. Remembering your videos i did a quick Google search KNOWING you would have a video to help. And help you did! Now the sensors are great and the motor actually runs very well! Its a 13.5t sensored and its now powering a 1/10 rally car and giving anyone that drives it a big smile on their face. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK, taking time to make these videos and sharing them with us all !

90% of videos on KZbin and advice from family and friends, have informed me not to put a warped vinyl record into a heated oven, pressed between two sheets of glass, BUT to rather to place the record with its inner sleeve wrapped in a new bin bag, sandwiched in between two heavy pieces of granite, with another heavy object on the top for more added weight and let gravity do its bit. Heat is by far, the worst solution for a warped record, due to the grooves containing the music, the signal and the quality of the recording, to get damaged !

correct if wrong, but could you not just hold the head degausser in place where you held that magnet and it would do the same thing? that way you would get the proper AC magnetic field required to erase the tapes and there would be no leftover magnetism on anything ? thank you
