Brilliant. Have an ESC to fix,seeing your analysis of the components and what went bang was helpful. I'll replace the FETS on mine and hopefully that will be it,but seeing the fault finding was enjoyable,was part of my job many years ago,but on things much much larger than these! Thank you for posting.

Thanks for the vid Nick... will probably never get to repair one of these but watching your logic as you pull this little controller apart is an education in itself. Top man ^

Hi Nick, Are you still doing repairs on these speed controllers? Steve

I'm slowly developing an interest in electric motors Nick, how do the newer motors compare, and how is speed control handled today with modern Technology ?
@nickadams54115 жыл бұрын
This speed control is brushed only. Brushed motors have not changed much in 30 years. The brushless motors and speed controls that we have now are far more powerful and so much more reliable.

Hey Nick, not sure if you can help but you'll most probably know what the issue is. I run a Zombie 13.5t brushless sensored motor & unfortunately while at track I had a large body clip find it's way under the car on bench & magnetized itself to outside air hole of motor. Did couple laps & then through slow S-turns car lost power etc throttle. Upon checking the clip was stuck in air vent but didn't go in. Now what occurs is just a whirring sensor noise with sensor wire plugged in with no power but unplug sensor wire & motor runs full power with no noises etc but obviously no smooth power from lowdown just on/off like a light switch. Obviously sensor board has been compromised when clip was caught but don't know if something like this can be repaired. Finding new sensor board is a no go & currently using another motor. Any idea's mate??? cheers Gavin

Hi Gavin. The sensor board must be damaged. Without seeing the motor I cannit say if the board can be repaired. I would have expected that Zombie UK (Colin jackson) would have a new board.

Hi, Will you be reviewing any new motors soon?

I have tested the Trinity X Factor and Orca Blitreme2, and wanted to compare to the new Hobbywing G3R. But the Hobbywing appears to have been withdrawn, so will be just the 2 motors.
