As fun as Time Travel seems, it would fuck up so many things because your basically cloning reality, and every time you time travel to the past it immediately changes the time line and you can't undo it no matter how many time you try to prevent it, it just adds more to the problem. I think of time like a VHS tape and you can change the video by recording over it and you can keep recording over it to change it but no matter what, you will never get that original recorded video back.

I quite enjoyed that. Seems pretty self-consistent, with a nice little exit off the madness. Some concerns though. In the implied first loop (which we don't see), the interactions between original Tim and the first returning Tim must have occurred later than the second loop (which we also don't see), when black-jacket assassin Tim comes back, because original Tim had not arrived home yet. So that second loop must have been different than when murder Tim came back. The second loop must have had just two Tims initially (black jacket and returning Tim), and were later joined by original Tim after he came home. This provided an opportunity for murder Tim to come back before original Tim arrived home and trick first returning Tim and black jacket Tim into thinking he was original Tim. Follow me so far? This causes some problems. Would first returning Tim not be surprised to find a Tim in his house at a time before he arrived home? What conversation was murder Tim remembering to convince black jacket Tim to hand over the gun? Not saying these aren't soluble problems, but they do leave the (overthinking) viewer wondering.
@trevorama
@trevorama 3 ай бұрын
I love it when smart viewers like you get deep in the time-travel weeds. Great observations! There’s a line in the film where second Tim is confused about the timing of when he originally came home but was immediately distracted away from following that train of thought. That’s the same thing that would have happened. As for the conversation that he references about the gun, it probably wouldn’t have been exactly the same, but given the players, it would have been similar enough after everything played out. Glad you enjoyed the film. Thank you for your trenchant questions!

Annoying when the entire conflict can be resolved with a simple solutions like saying they're triplets and moving on... I can live with time travel loopholes or paradoxes, but sloppy writing is the worst

24:01 A difference of one second (just by looking at the clock) can make the story take a sharp turn. He stared at the clock lying on the floor, so he didn't immediately enter the room and enter the time machine, a few seconds later someone knocked on the door. And in the end he canceled using his time machine.

I have so many unanswered questions like bro, wtf? it doesn't make sense how he waited in the first timeline with the future self for midnight to test if the disappeared,if it had always been the further future self... since the present guy was coming home in 15 mins saying ok ...he was in not in the first timeline doesn't work since the guy who came with the gun remembers both of them and the situation of their meeting.
@trevorama
@trevorama 4 ай бұрын
Hmm. I spent a lot of time on the logic to make sure it all worked. The guy with the gun is remembering a different timeline with himself and the original Tim. Thanks for watching!

@@trevorama thanks for answering. great work I'd love to discuss more, so I am kind of going to do it .... so are you implying the guy who comes back with the gun never actually goes back to his past since the furthest future guy arrives to the past where none of them are here yet, so he also travelled across timelines? I am not trying to get a quantum physics class out of you, but just get your perspective, as you said you thought everything out. Oh! and just to be sure, what was going through the youngest time traveller when he pushed the clock? did he really think that far or random luck ended the loop... and I guess the furthest future dude was committed since he came so far back he had time to go out of the house to fake his coming into the house.
@ivanivan3014
@ivanivan3014 3 ай бұрын
ohh and if the across timeline theory is right then the machine should already be working before he makes it since they used it to come... and I can't judge how you interpreted time travel to work but I do judge that it was incoherent, if he did know all that was going to unfold why not just bring his own gun back in time like the other dude? for the plot, I guess. Well if that is your answer I can only say nice story telling and acting

I like the film a lot. And I totally get that it was a very intentional choice to break the cycle at the end. I have to wonder, though, if the impact would be greater by ending it 2 minutes earlier. When I thought it was over, you know when I mean... I thought, "damn, those poor bastards are going to be running around in this cycle for eternity". That hit hard. But then, happy ending! Either way, really cool film and story.

Time travel doesn’t work like that….. I ALMOST thought it was gonna end on some EXTREMELY impossible time travel plot of future selves killing past selves and still somehow existing but instead ended with him never even going into the time machine in the first place which makes it EVEN MORE impossible for any of ANY part of this happening but the very end where none of it happened but the end scene…. Oh wait! I get it! It’s cause if the last surviving time traveler would have succeeded in killing the original before it started then it would have killed ALL of them! So accidentally killing himself before he could kill the original started a whole new time line ending with him getting the girl in the end WITHOUT the time machine!! Awesome! Very simp but awesome time travel flip!

So, look, if you know that you'll end up vying for the same woman, duplicate the woman after she's already be in love with you. You could each have a new girlfriend, and move out to different states where there's no risk of bumping into each other.
