Lovely! So hard to find a soprano who slides through those runs and doesn't do the bouncy "ha!ha!ha!" thing. I hate that, it completely obliterates the beautiful notes.

Technique? Tone? Trills? Range? I don't know a lot about those aspects of performance, but for me this is a very pleasing, sweet rendition. Her voice seems very relaxed and natural...no straining or theatrics. Just my opinion.

THIS IS THE SHOW OFF PIECE, CAN COMPARE THE SUPER STARS, ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE, LILY FOR SURE BUT ALSO NATALIE, INGRID, SILVIA.. MORE FUN FOR ME, AS 86 YEAR OLD IS TO SEE ORCHESTRAS INFILTRATED BY WOMEN. IN EARLY ONES, FEMALE HARPIST, NOW MOST HAVE SIGNIFICANT NUMBERS IN ALL SECTIONS.

Ramon O Pons was a great soprano of the past. If you do not know her, you shows ignorance. Novikova is a simple soprano with marketing.

+Oscar Grau -- I am 76 years old. I know about Lily Pons and her conductor-husband Andre Kostelanetz. I used to have several 78 RPM records of her arias. Same with Amelita Galli-Curci, Tito Schipa and Enrico Caruso. My point was that an artist's life -- any artist -- goes through a cycle of discovery, fame, decline and then is forgotten as next generation of artists (like Novikova and Netrebko) is discovered. Perhaps I should not have used Ms Lily Pons' name and instead substituted a generic name like Mary Soprano or Joe Tenor.

Ramon O Novikova has a natural and beautiful voice, but technical foul. Now she is young and beautiful, and his voice works well, but it will be difficult technique for the future. The sound is not positioned correctly, it's a little throaty. Sound off and lackluster, doubtful control diaphragm. In acute uses much falsetto, without force, unsupported, open mouth too wide ... To deny that Lily is worse is slightly absurd. She is dead? of course, nobody denies that, but there is a soprano that equals in this aria? very few. Diana Damrau is a current example of great technique. (Well-placed voice, good control of the diaphragm, dynamic, diction, strength, etc.)

really love this performance. i like her voice, performance, facial expression. plus she´s a really beautiful lady. and the aria itself is for me one of the rare examples of 19th century coloratura aria that i really like. even the words are beautiful, they´re making sense and telling a charming story. i like the oriental flavor and delibes´s music is simply beautiful, charming and exciting at the same time.
