Suggest you watch thrust wsr model test runs , approaching 100 mph. That's fast.

I've just seen this video for the first time, and I see that you have not posted anything since. I'm curious if you were ever able to get a full throttle run of this 120mm fan model hydroplane?

Should not need thrust hitting the water for it to hit high speeds. My EDF outrigger will do 67 mph. Your sponsors are too low, it should be even with the bottom of the hull. You also need a wedge at the rear of the hull where it contacts the water. Building it just like a prop-powered outrigger and just adding an EDF would be much more efficient. Your sponson booms should be straight and not bent down making the nose go up high you are actually introducing drag. An EDF doesn't need a surface to push against to accelerate as it pulls through the air just as it pushes through the air. Just like EDF jets they have nothing to push air against as they are in the sky.

Hi 👋, I am new to your work shop, what happened next, ??? I was into hydros back in the 80s and early 90s, I held the electric speed record for Hydro at 54 miles per hour, in the Uk, and I was into IC racing 3-5 7-5 11 15 cc , I built my boats, Great tutorial , was there every a follow up?, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE

I really like the big one. Let me as a r/c rigger builder give you one advice: big turnfin at the back to keep it running in a straight line AND one turnfin on the right floater for the same reason as well as the turns. You need those two pieces of metal!!!

I think the front sponsons are too low. It helps at low speed but once you are at a plane it hurts your stability. Also to help in the turn the inside of the sponson should be angled out, to help grab the water and knife in, while the outer edge should be angled out as well, to help deflect water downward and prevent the inner sponson from diving into the water. The rear should be angled out to help it from diving as well.

You have got a lot to learn about outrigger hydroplane technology. Your CG is way too far back for one thing. The speed isn't that impressive. There are no records for EDF hydro's so how can you say that it's the world's fastest?

Ummm what were you thinking of sticking an open edf unit on the very leading edge just above waterline of a watercraft??? I know your thing is aeronautics but wow lol. A lot of fun watching you learn thanks for sharing, consider the thrust line vs waterline perhaps a small hydrofoil at the tail to raise the tail with speed , you're losing so much to induced drag - the lighter you can make it on the water without planing the better if it's speed you're after
@RadicalRocket
@RadicalRocket 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I like to start with an idea without too much theory, this makes for a much more 'hands on' approach which I think most people will like. Hydrofoil is a nice idea but limited. Something that must be appreciated is that any wake displaced, that is the entire wake void left by the boat if filled with water and weighed, adds drag to that volume in weight in water. This is because you are pushing it out of the way. The faster you go, the bigger and longer that void.. Anything in the water creates drag greater than 1,000 times that in air. So anything in the water at all is going to slow you down.
