Interesting idea. But have you not thought about a pyro based system. Something with maybe a .22 blank as the gas generator. In a lightweight steel or aluminium piston. Much less flame and sustained heat involved that could damage the drone or parachute. And a much more rapid deployment of the chute. Just a thought.
