i'm gonna go ahead skip any more games by keen software house. they are total scam artists (over promising, under delivering, abandoning games, etc..) and with SE2 they are at it again. it seems to me that everything promised in SE2 was already promised in SE1, but either failed to deliver or scrapped from the plan entirely so that they could rush the whole buggy mess to release, and start pumping out dlc. most people imagine this game will be 'technic lego in spaaaace', but get distracted by the unintuitive controls and slow game grind, and don't notice its actually 'duplo lego' XD

Huh, I usually prefer to do the nilaus's strategy of handfeeding a few chests plates so it gets turned into green chips and belts. Then I do my own design where I put down a gear assembler and surround it with red science buildings and a lab next to em, usually put like 4 labs since it's good enough. It takes a while until you need to refill copper though central assembler for gears are very iron hungry, so I sometimes put a chest nearby that feeds iron. At minimum I research electric miners, fast inserters and logistics for undergrounds and splitters. That setup let's me research with low focus and spend my focus on expanding my miners for more base resource. After that I make a base that will take me from that pathetic state up to chemical science. Funnily enough I'm restarting my game again, so I might try your blueprint for a proper base ( I keep restarting since I enjoy early game and find that disassembling my base kills my motivation and feel like a fresh start will let me come back soon) since I'm not gonna do silly restrictions like no quality, no infinite research, since as a person in discord pointed out - bro you haven't beaten space age and already going for 4x science cost???

Preferences: I removed most pumps and wired the chemical plants directly to the tanks and controlled based on level (eg: enable when light oil > 5000). How do you hook up the "Fuel Me" Train Stop to this system. With your "Important Note" @ 11:54, you cant have a unloading station with a different wagon size than other unloader stations. I dont want to limit say "all Fuel Type X" loading/unloading stations to be only 1 wagon.

It will work except that you could encounter problems with 1 wagon coal unloading stations getting full, the 1 wagon coal train could get a "coal request" from the 4 wagon unloading stations needing coal, but then the 1 wagon coal train could end up parking and blocking all requests for coal and hence clogging the system. For the fuel station (fuel me) station, you can use a 4 wagon coal train if you want. Just stamp the unloading station blueeprint and set it to whatever you want. Hope that helps

Setting the number wagons to 4 but setting the number of chest storage to something small (like 1 chest) breaks because a full 4 wagon train arrives, fills up the 1 chest, but then freezes because of the leave when train is empty condition never hits because its still carrying a full load minus one chest. not sure if im just misinterpretting this but with the quality upcycler blueprint, the recycler inserters seem to be receiving the signal for all qualities regardless of whether i have enough of that quality edit: actually, it seems to be just the legendary that are doing that. its receiving the legendary signal despite not having any legendaries at all
@TheJarGames

The inserters that go into the storage boxes are set to static filters. They are disabled when there IS a signal from the constant combinators for that good. When there is the desired supply in the storage box of each good, the decider combinator will give a 1 signal of that quality good. That way, the inserters into the recycler can be set to filter that into recycling, so the inserters into the storage boxes are running on opposite logic, they are enabled where there "isn't" a signal for that good. I hope that helps

how many assemblers do i need to fill uranium fuel cell production for the 4 reactor setup?
@TheJarGames
@TheJarGames 5 күн бұрын
Great question! You can produce 1.25 fuel cells per second with a regular green (level 3) assembler, and each reactor burning at full tilt (using it's max power draw) will consume 1 every 200 seconds. At regular crafting speed it takes 10 seconds to craft, but you get 10 of the fuel cells. If you are using blue assemblers it might be like... 0.75 per second? So I think it's safe to say you can have one assembler you can run a LOT of reactors. The limit will be how many U-235 you are getting, so keep and eye on that. Pre-space, you won't have kovarex, or requester chests, but your average mining operation will provide enough 235 for a 4 reactor setup plus a bit extra
@kane29842
@kane29842 6 күн бұрын
The +1 train if drop off full actually scales out and becomes worse, especially if you're provider stations outnumber your dropoff points. 2 loaders for 1 drop off with a 1 train limit? You'll probably end up with two trains full of cargo in the depot. Unless you can pulse a signal and track it at a single coordinator or read contents of trains in motion i don't see a way to solve that tho.
@TheJarGames
@TheJarGames 6 күн бұрын
Hey Kane! That's a good observation. With the latest version sending demand signals, it's not an issue. The main thing is always having parking at the drop off stations, which makes sense especially mid-late game, because you want trains to line up in unloading parking stalls to keep the belts full.
@kane29842
@kane29842 5 күн бұрын
@@TheJarGames Ah i think i worked out whats going on, the blueprint book in the link ignores the set limit for the loading stations when determining what quantity of entity to request. Seems like the final arithmetic combinator is taking its red wire input from the input end of the earlier combinator, not the output end, so it's sending available capacity, not available limit, so it will send say, 7 trains to pickup, when there's only room to drop off 1. This cascades when the other 6 head back to the depot and disappear from the total resource count
@TheJarGames
@TheJarGames 5 күн бұрын
@@kane29842 great observation. That was actually a design choice too, because if it uses the limit after parking (the given L limit, not the calculated one), then you end up waiting for resources to load. So by using the calculated limit, you might end up with some trains going to the depot, but most of them should be able to unload in due time, but during the drive to the depot another train can be assigned to the task. Once the train is parked at the depot with a specific type of good, it shuts off all loading of that good. It's possible to use unloading stations without parking, for super compact base design, but it's really best to have unloading (especially of ores with 50 stack size) with parking.

definitely agree! It's mostly important early on (debatably so) to get kovarex up ASAP, or on a space ship. In either case, it's not really essential. For me, though, I like being as efficient as possible and UPS is never really a concern. If I was running Factorio on a potato I might care less, for mroe UPS optimization rather than Uranium conservation.

u pretty much do it in the early game when u just started me trying to get the solar achivement(aka no solar until space) getting that 1st 235 u would want to make sure ur 1st stock last.

Very cool! I'll use this for some stuff, but as another comment mentioned it's probably better to have a permanent setup for machines that have prod bonuses.

Oh yes, makes sense. I should make a simpler version with one machine per quality, then the user can slap prod in whichever one is the highest quality for their current tech level. Shortly after legendary opens up, the game changes and it's time to harvest legendary space rocks... so this isn't a permanent solution, but a great one for early-to-mid game.

Recipe change has one issue - if there is productivity bonus, it is lost after change

I started to use stack size in the blueprint parameters. P0_s is the variable name. It works well.

My comment disappeared, Idk y. There's a guy named Surtr Plays that says, "Let's get stuck in..." I like your latest version of the upcycling blueprint given I can choose to only make up to rare items given I can only make up to rare items atm (!)

@@TheJarGames After you understand something, it seems super simple... until then not so much. That happened dozens of times in grad school: "Oh, no, wtf is this!?" to "oh, what's the big deal..." Either way, I just finished shoveling my snow around the house, and I didn't drop dead from a heart attack or injure or break anything, so I'm way ahead in the game of life (I'm not superstitious) even if I have to nurse my lack of programming competence... honestly, me still finding this hard (some parts make complete sense to me now, but not everything you do with the logic circuits) is hilarious to me...
