I've never seen Mearsheimer get annoyed except when this interviewer tried to very reasonably and fairly insert an alternative narrative about Russia. Mearsheimer couldn't even entertain the idea that they might've influenced the outcome of the 2016 election without steam coming out of his ears lol (not that Russia decided the election or were in cahoots with Trump by the way; it only took a much more mundane claim to upset Mearsheimer)

One thing that Cultural Leftists like Henry Giroux ( love his "rocksta" hair job) do not want people to know is Funded School Choice ( Catholic schools, Jewish Schools, Language Immersion, Classical, Montessori, Buddhist, Waldorf, Secular, Vocational, Islamic, ALL KINDS of Schools ) is a basic democratic right worldwide, as it is in most of Canada. Funded school choice is a well-recognized human right. Funding Educational Choice is required by international HUMAN RIGHTS LAW. Funding ensures all parents, rich or poor have a choice in their child’s education, be it for pedagogical, language, religious, cultural or others reasons. ALL Educational Choice, including Catholic Schools, Christian Schools, Home Schooling, Language Immersion, Classical, Jewish, Montessori, Buddhist, Waldorf, Secular, Vocational, Islamic, Christian, Reggio Emilia, Outward Bound and First Nations models of education. The International Declaration of Human Rights states in article 26.3: “Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.” The few “democratic” governments that deny funding for Educational Choice are in violation of basic human rights laws that protect all parental rights to choice regardless of ability to pay tuition fees. Sadly New Brunswick is one of the few jurisdictions that have violated parental rights for most parents, preserving the right of Educational Choice as a privilege for only those parents who can afford tuition fees. The International Declaration of Human Rights makes clear that Universal Educational Choice is for everyone in Article 2 as it assures choice is a right for all, not just a privilege of those parents who can afford tuition fees. Funded choice is further reinforced in articles 7, 18, 26, 28 and 30. In Canada, educational choice is protected under the Canadian Charters freedom of association Sec.2 d. As all non-coercive educational communities are communities based on freedom of association, monopoly funding that only privileges one government model of “school” or educational community is not only a violation of parents rights to Educational Choice under international Human Rights Law (UDHR 1948), but the rights of parents under the Canadian Charter (Sec.2 d.) in violation of parents rights to associate with parents and communities that seek similar choices in the education of their children. Intrinsically abusive “ one size fits all” now rebranded as “inclusive” monopoly funding also negatively impacts on professional freedom of association of teachers who want to work outside the“one size firs all”or“inclusive”“government” model, or start their own schools. The human rights law on universal funding for educational choice is so well-defined that individuals “inciting discrimination” against funded school choice are violating that law (see article 7, DHR) in the same manner as if they were opposed to women voting, advocating the return of slavery, or supporting racial, cultural or religious assimilation or persecution. Sadly there is a long history of sectarian/racist who have supported government assimilationist or persecutory policies by advocating for “one size fits all” “melting pot” “assimilationist” or “inclusive” educational policies or funding, in Europe these “inclusive/assimilationist” education policies often targeted Jewish communities, ( or now Islamic) in America such policies targeted Catholic communities, often under state provisions know as the Blaine Amendments. ij.org/issues/school-choice/blaine-amendments/ A host of international human rights laws further protect funded school choice for all, including the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and, most importantly, the Convention against Discrimination in Education. The Convention Against Discrimination in Education may be the one document the Cultural Leftists Departments of Education is most fearful that parents (or their lawyers) read, or worse yet assess their self serving definition of “inclusion” against. en.unesco.org/about-us/legal-affairs/convention-against-discrimination-education Today 92% of Canadian parents have access to publicly funded educational choice including Secular, Montessori, Jewish, International Baccalaureate (IB) Christian, Islamic, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, Outward Bound, and other School models. (Ontario limits choice to Secular, Catholic and Protestant School Boards) Most Canadian provinces funding educational choice using a voucher-like model that saves money while fostering responsive management in the public system: Ontario funds Secular, Catholic and some limited Protestant school boards. All other provinces west of New Brunswick offer a diversity of funding models that support Educational Choice, including Home Schooling, Language Immersion, Classical, Jewish, Montessori, Buddhist, Waldorf, Secular, Vocational, Islamic, Christian, Reggio Emilia, Outward Bound and First Nations models of education.

several years before the establishment of the state of israel iraqui muslim mobs attacked the iraqi jews. for two days in june 1941hundreds of iraqui jews were injured and murdered; women and girls were raped; homes and businesses were looted. that event was the beginning of iraqui jews fleeing iraq- to iran and lebanon. the british in deference to the arabs kept the jews from entering palestine. iraqui jews had been in iraq since ancient times when it was mesapotamia. centuries before islam was born in the 7th century a.d. there are about 81 arab and muslim countries but only one jewish country ( the size of new jersey).except for remnant jewish communities in morocco, tunisia, iran, all the jews who lived in arab and muslims countries had to flee for their lives especially after 1948. 600, 000 - 800, 000. the newly reborn state of israel took them all in ( also holocaust survivors). the numbers of immigrants that had to be housed all at once were putt up in tents, metal huts. food was scarce. however after not so many years these immigrants were housed in newly constructed apartment buildings. then acclaimated into life in israel. 75 years later the so- called palestinians are still called refugees. the arab world uses them as pawns. the millions of dollars that the palestinians get are used for bombs and missiles. they bring up their children to hate the jews and with a goal to drive them into the sea. by the way before 1948 the jews were called palestinians and the arabs were just arabs. yasssar arafat an egyptian began this calling of the arabs there palestinians. palestina was a name given to the land by the romans who hated the jews. in israel arab citizens live better than the arabs in neighboring countries. avi shlaim it appears is a self- hating jew. he seems to be a very bitter person. does he mention the " farhud" arab mob attack on the bagdadi jews during the 2 days of their celebrating the jewish holiday shavouot? he hates israel. he and his views are so very welcome and expounded by other haters of israel.

The Ottomans welcomed the Jews when they were expelled from Spain plus there were lots of indigenous Jewish communities in their domains. The West wanted to destroy the Ottoman Empire and hence encouraged Arab nationalism to get them to revolt against the Ottomans. Remember TE Lawrence. This succeeded and afterwards they parcelled it up into incomprehensible countries including Israel out of Ottoman lands. And look where that got us! Nothing but conflict in the whole region.

Thank you so much for this brilliant interview. Such a lovely gently spoken man of integrity. I feel validated in my understanding about the creation of Israel. That it was created for East European Zionist Jews & that Jews in Muslim lands did not have the same history of persecution that European Jews did. And that Arab Jews had a wonderful vibrant culture. Amongst a lot of other insights. Finally we have truth! I’ve ordered the book and sharing his interviews widely! ❤

Why don’t you tell the true story, Who rejected the United Nation partition in 1947 the Jews or Arabs? Have you been employed by the ARABS to be their lawyer and anti Israel propaganda Have you forgotten what the Arabs done to their Jewish citizens Jews were scared to go out from their houses. They can’t travel more than few km and they should be at their home by certain time All Jewish properties, businesses, bank accounts, valuable items were confiscated and stolen by the Arabs government Jews list many times over than the Israeli Arabs lost You are an Iraqi Jew and you know how wealthy the Iraqis Jews and Arabs Jews wealth Do you admit or deny that the Israeli Arabs who left Israel in 1948, were advised by the attacking 9 Arabs countries to leave Israel to neighbouring countries and they should be back in few days after slaughtering all Jews in Israel and their dead bodies will be thrown to the Mediterranean Sea. Avi say the truth and be unbiased

I went to university to study law. The first words spoken at the beginning of the course, and spoken in beautiful Welsh intonations they were, were: " If you are here because you think the law is about justice, you are in the wrong course". I had obviously signed up for the wrong course. So, I went down to the Student Union Bar to drown my sorrows in rich English ales. There I met some students from the philosophy department who kept banging on about the problem of whether the table my pint was standing on actually existed and how were we to know that the table did exist ad infinitum. I am not religious these days, but I do remember the Old Testament adage that it is better to live on the roof top than to live in a house full of confusion. A child has a clearer understanding of justice than what remains of it after it has been shattered into a thousand strategems and words and sacrificed on the altar of politics.

I was wondering ... wasn't the rise of arab nationalism in the 1930's as professor Shlaim tells, a reaction to european colonialism - specially english ? And also a reaction to the rise of zionism in Palestine ? Afterall we all know how the middle east has been divided since the famous or infamous Skyes- Picot agreement of 1916. If anyone would care to answer and or develop this issue I appreciate . Thanks for the video !

The Palestinian authority which rules in the area a and area B also pays Palestinians who kill Jews, pay to slay. they give pensions out to individuals who kill Jews, and they also through their textbooks encourage killing Jews. Do you think that’s antisemitism? The moderator should read the Hamas charter a perfect example of antisemitism it would make the Nazi Goebbels blush.

Two different defining concepts of colonialism, one comes from the mother country which invades another country and sets up a colonial government which is subservient to the mother country and whose benefits go to the mother country. You have taken the terms of colonialism and then applied it to zionism, however Zionism was not launched by another country it was by the indigenous Jews who soughto settle into the land of Palestine and create a nation state for the Jewish h people. I don’t know of any French or German or Spanish flags when they arrived on the beaches of Tel Aviv. I believe your use of the word colonialism is more a stick that you have invented to beat over the heads of the Zionists but the concept is very weak at best. also many indigenous movements have sought allies or have had support from other countries and was partially the case for Zionism it was not the purpose.

Zionism was explicitly launched by Britain. The initial batch of settlers explicitly came there to protect the British colony (and Britain later gave them the land as they promised). And if you think today Israel does not benefit any Western nations, you are sorely mistaken. It is a bastion of Western imperialism in the region.

zionist leaders themselves(Herzl, Jabotinsky, to name 2 that come to mind) referred to themselves as colonist, the settler colonial aspect is not the only that defines zionism, but arguably it is the only objectionable element, given what it has done in practise to the palestinians also, those who started and dominated the zionist movement, were european jews, it was not the jews of the ottoman empire(who are indigenous to the land) that started that project to create a jewish homeland or state

In the year 1500 there were 10,000 Jews living in the Safad region , in 1563 The establishment of the Hebrew printing press, in 1100 A.D. Jews took part in the defense of Haifa against the crusaders, in 1199 driven out by the Crusaders Jews moved to the Jerusalem area. Jews also sought a homeland after being driven out of Spain in 1492, Lithuania in 1495, Portugal, Sicily and Sardinia in 1497, in the year 1099 A.D. Jews take part in the defense of Jerusalem against the crusaders. In 1211 Rabbi’s from France and England settle near Jerusalem, in 1267 the Ramban settles and establishes a synagogue in the Jerusalem area. By 1880 the Jews formed the majority of the population of Jerusalem. The Mameluke Who drove out the crusaders in 1291 and ruled until 1516 at times encouraged Jewish settlement, and many Jews came to Palestine to escape from Christian persecution in Europe. After 1517 under the Ottoman Turks the Jews of Europe continue to seek refuge in Palestine from Christian persecution and expulsion despite spasmodic ill treatment by their Muslim rulers. From 1946 to 1960/900,000 Jews from Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Syria,Yemen, Iraq, Morocco, Lebanon, came to the state of Israel after being kicked out of Arab lands. Those Jews make up the majority population of the state of Israel today. Genetically Ashkenazy, Mizrachi , and Sephardic Jews are all similar. In addition having a common culture, language, and beliefs. In November 1947 after the Jews accepted resolution 181 and the Arabs rejected it the Arabs started a civil war . In May 1948 the modern state of Israel declared its independence, and five Arab armies attacked the State of Israel . These historical facts happen before reference to the late Bronze Age and the Jewish kingdoms of Judea and Israel and the era of King David Solomon, Saul, and the judges. The post modernist concept of colonialism which you apply has no application in the history of Israel and focuses on ideological myth instead of historical fact.

@@johndunne7900 putting aside that my claims were not refuted, I’d like to turn to the only relevant part of your comment, which is the Zionist/Israeli acceptance of partition, they definitely accepted that in principle, they were 1 third of the population of the British mandate of Palestine and they were given 55% of the land and they ended up with 78% after the 1948 war, Israelis clearly cannot accept a win The attack from Arab countries came after Zionist militias had already started the Nakba, the Arab rulers then only reacted from public pressure as the refugees were arriving in their cities, and even then these rulers mainly cared about grabbing the Arab bits of the partition as opposed to a genuine display of solidarity. The expulsion/mass emigration happened after the creation of Israel, those Jews were victims of nationalism, both Israeli nationalism(a variant of Zionism) and Arab Nationalism, and also the experiences in all those Arab countries you mentioned varied, and in some instances there was Israeli sabotage and interference Lastly, that doesn’t change that Israel has existed for 75 years, it’s a settled matter and in practise it denies the Palestinians the same rights they enjoy is service of the greater Israel project, it really is that easy

most people it seems to me either give a blank check to the military crimes of a nation, or simply assume such is justified by some greater crimes by some other nation or party, or is excusable under the circumstances, but I think the internet is threatening to this status quo because it allows people to openly debate and join to challenge this status quo. I believe this is why Twitter etc are now allied with government agencies attempting to remove 'potential threats'
