It takes approx. 20-30 min to remove a windscreen, depending on the technician's experience. The more you practice and use it, the faster you will be 😉 Some technicians might be quicker with knife & blades, but one of the advantages of EVO 5.0 removal tool is, that you cause less damages at the car’s interior when using EVO 5.0.

Saw an advert for this glass on the back of a Pilkington truck yesterday. An absolutely brilliant idea full of care, consideration and humanity. Just subscribed and will install this glass on my future house now I know it exists. This needs to be installed on all big buildings

@PilkingtonTV 12 years later continues to give clear responses and are openly transparent about the manufacturing process. Reading about float glass opened a window into St Helens' history. My Da is a scouser born a few years prior to this invention. When I was a kid he'd love to talk about float glass, instilling me with awe and respect for this huge never ending process. Learning the St Helens origin might explain his sheer level of fascination, good chance my grandad actually worked there post-war.

Thanks for your question. This is a demo video which shows the usage of the EVO tool. The sensor, camera and mirror were detached previously starting the cut of the windscreen.

I am an optical engineer, but perhaps I would offer some advice on presenting. Slow animations on KZbin are going to make almost anyone click away. You could show the transmission spectrum of a slab of soda lime glass. That lambda > 2300 nm doesn't pass through it. Show a picture of a person looking through a piece of glass at visible wavelengths and at long wavelength infrared, where the person's reflection is visible in the glass like a mirror. Compare it to something like zinc sulfide or zinc selenide which does pass long wave infrared. For emissivity, compare an image of a hot pool of melted glass with that of melted steel. The glass has much lower emissivity in the visible and near infrared, and so doesn't radiate nearly as much as the steel in those wavelengths. Connecting some of these ideas to observations would help one understand why whether or not a material transmits longwave radiation matters.

Thanks. In general the answer is yes, we can make heated insulating glass units with self-cleaning coating, but of course it depends also on all other requirements.

Has this become as cost efficient as double glazing? Seems like it could be better and more cost efficient than triple glazing though...

A vacuum insulated product cannot be produced at same costs as double or triple IGU’s. However the big advantages of Pilkington Spacia™ compared to IGU’s is the low thickness that can be installed in case IGU is not possible to fit in a frame or if Ug value of a triple is required but space and weight being an issue Pilkington Super Spacia™ might be a good fit. Additionally Pilkington Spacia™ products compared to IGU’s are much lower in weight and have better sound protection properties.
