Biggest cause of death sway is the rear Upper camber arm and toe arms having limited/no travel. When you add lift spacers, UCA loses travel because it's pushed to the end of it's travel. When you add trailing arm spacers, it adds to that and also starts doing the same to the toe arm. HRG sells a kit which fixed it (kinda) but it's fucking rubbish and dangerous in other ways. There's a guy making a replacement kit that is a thousand times better designed and safer, but money has been tight so I've not yet installed it to show the differences but I will be early next year.

Can you give me the model ok the element diff? Link please 2:05
@isakjetbean29 күн бұрын
Don't bother getting an element diff, just get a 3rd gen CR-V diff instead. Same thing practically, in fact 3rd gen is another step up. Easier to find, more likely to be in newer/better condition

Is that crv 4x2 or 4x4?
@isakjetbeanАй бұрын
It's a bit weird. Technically 4x4. The transmission directly drives front wheels BUT The final drive gear in the transmission is also directly driving the transfer case. So the rear end is ALWAYS receiving power, and the car is technically always in 4x4.... BUT The rear diff has a similar function to a torque convertor so it will only actually engage 4x4 when it's receiving enough power. So it won't crawl at 1000RPM in 4x4, but it will rip up a hill at 2500RPM in 4x4
@swaresiderАй бұрын
@isakjetbean If it only drives the front wheels it is 4x2, if it drives all 4 wheels it is 4x4

@isakjetbeanАй бұрын
Lift has gotten silly haha. 2" rear and 1.5" front spacers paired with 1.5" lift springs front/rear and 235/75/15 so another 1.5" lift roughly from tyres Wheels are just some old ford falcon wheels with a +35mm offset

From where I can buy upper control arm part for rear end and the part that leightent the toe arm down
@isakjetbeanАй бұрын
The part I bought is from HRG. It's been a few years though and I wouldn't recommend it. It's not properly engineered and has caused significant premature wear on my bushings.

So is the CR-V AWD or did they actually make 4x4 versions?
@isakjetbean3 ай бұрын
It's AWD on demand, though it's a lot closer to a 4WD in some ways. Basically, power is sent through a transfer case to the rear differential, where it has a fluid-pressure system to engage and disengage AWD. This means it's only in AWD when it needs. Unlike a typical AWD where you have traction control systems, this performs much more akin to an open differential 4WD. The biggest issue is no low range like an actual 4WD vehicle designed for proper offroading.

As slow as possible, is as fast as necessary. Remember that.
@isakjetbean3 ай бұрын
Thank you, though I don't need the lesson. That's how this CR-V is driven. It's important to understand how these cars handle. They have practically no torque until 3200RPM, with their torqueband taking off and peaking between 3500RPM and 4200RPM, which with 30s and a stock engine, is 20-30km/h Unless you want to regularly clutch dump, at 3200RPM, if you hit a hill, low traction or an obstacle, you have zero room to accelerate if you need. I'm running a heavy duty clutch, even with a clutch dump at 5k revs, they can often fail to recover from slowing down and losing revs. Just watch 9:14 where I slow down for the rut, and immediately the rear wheels stop engaging at the lower revs, and the front right spins out leaving me to re-attempt. My experience is that below 3200RPM on a hill or a challenging rut, you're more likely to stall out or roll backwards. The other issue is that below around 2800RPM, unless you're spinning your fronts out completely, your Dual Pump powered rear differential will not engage, leaving you with less traction and power distribution across all 4. They simply lack the torque to handle their weight at low speeds. They're better driven as a mix between 4WD and rally.

How's the fitment with 235/75/15? I just bought some Toyo Open Country and it seems they would rub horizontally. Did you do any mods to the body?
@isakjetbean3 ай бұрын
Mine do still rub on 3/4 lock when flexing out, but they don't rub on road. I did hammer in the seams around the back There's a QC issue with the RD1 front Lower Control Arms where the castor is actually different between every set of arms manufactured. As a result, some people will have their tyres rub on the exact same setup that others won't. It's incredibly frustrating.
@SorinGuga3 ай бұрын
@@isakjetbean Thanks for replying. I downgraded to 215/75/15 for now, on the OEM wheels and stock height and I must say, rubbing is minimal. Currently in progress of restoring the chassis, but will come with some feedback on 235/75/15 as well as possibly other rim specs after raising 2".

You can swap a honda element diff into these?? Are they better and what year would work?
@isakjetbean7 ай бұрын
All years. And 2nd gen / 3rd gen crv diffs work too. 3rd Gen have an internal mechanism to engage the dual pump to 30% leading to faster engagement and less wear. They're better. Dual pump diffs have clutches that force together when a fluid thickens, which happens when it's spun. The higher your rpm, the thicker the fluid. That pushes clutches together and engages awd. The Element have more clutch material and wider ports for the fluid to flow when it gets thicker so faster.

@isakjetbean11 ай бұрын
Does alright, I never really load it up very heavy. Gotta hit any decent long hill at like 20-25km/h min, usually favouring around 30-35km/h. With a regear up to around 5.8 I think I'll get down to 24km/h with close to max tq (3600rpm) on stock engine. So idling pretty cruisy at that point. As for weight, gear is never heavier than 3 passengers so it's kind of negligible. Haven't re-geared anything.......yet
