This video really hits home. It's so easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget to take care of ourselves as gym owners.

Love the short cues, very "body part, action" formed. The only thing I spotted is he said "find a pullup bar with the right height" but didn't specify what the right height is.
@dinosr136 күн бұрын
He was asking them to push and pull and then asking them not to pull. I’d be more specific and possibly choose another term for identifying intention.

Mike Burgener props up Cody Looney like a barstool props up a drunk. Semper Fidelis. I worked with him on the CFWL seminars several times; he had no idea if half the crap he was saying was true, it was just repeating stuff he’d heard Coach B say. My athletes and coaches came back from Looney’s seminars asking me, “WTF?” They recognized the bs. Looney got the Regional Lead gig with an empty weightlifting resume. He’s basically been banned since then for toxic behaviors and trying to pass off uncertified & inexperienced instructors as weightlifting experts. The 1st thing he looked for in seminar staff was someone willing to drop everything on short notice to work for free. Or he’d bring on one of his girlfriends. Over the years Looney has minimally been involved with the weightlifting club at his own gym. Jake H has been the coach on the weightlifting class schedule and showing up at the all the meets. Before Jake it was Robert C. There’s good reason why he was rejected from the CF L1 seminars after interning. He’s even less qualified as a weightlifting coach. He’s never been an especially good weightlifter either.

Did well: decreased the number of people he had to see at one time by breaking the group into 2. The group management was good and the calling off of reps and switches was clear and concise. Could have done better. Position himself on the far end of the rig to create a scenario where he could see all reps. Said "nice job" to an athlete. What was a "nice job" by saying the POP he liked it reinforces her body mechanics in a more actionable way. Todd's a ninja and a good dude. Thanks for the morning motivation.

Todd did a fantastic job managing the group and I liked his teaching points during the progression. One thing I would have done differently is to include a step between swings and a full pull-up, something like a half or quarter pull-up, focusing on pushing the body back then pulling the elbows down. I also would try to correct body positions a bit more on the swings (hollow & arch shapes, legs straight, point toes, etc.) Great video, thank you!

Coffee Story: was on a long drive from California to home in Washington! I tried coffee with my aunt on the way home… it was my first Starbucks some sort of latte. The whole way home was coffee and long chats. And from there I have enjoyed adventures to find coffee wherever i went. Thanks lovely humans

First coffee story- freshman year in college we had a dunkin on campus. Never had coffee in my life needed a boost. My dad said “order a French vanilla coffee light and sweet you’ll love it.” And I did and ordered that my entire freshman year in college. Fast forward a year later I work for Whole Foods and at the time they owned a coffee company called ALLEGRO so I ended up being their coffee buyer and learned what coffee was supposed to taste like. I immediately switched to black coffee, different brew methods, etc. I ended up working in the coffee industry for over 10 years before switching over to the CrossFit space.
