They were stupid as f#@ed. If I was him, I would ordered David to travel back to earth in the spaceship and have a waiting team handle the ship and learn the technology that would take us centuries to the future. Then I would wake the Engineer in control environment and find what I want without the risk to get killed. And after that I would go to their planet to ask for alliance against another unknown species.

This engineer was basically just a soldier, not a philosopher or scientist or whatever the fuck. His reaction is pretty understandable

This movie could´ve been so epic. It started epic, kinda is epic but 2 things was trash. 1. The conversation with the engieer should´ve been more extendend. 2. The ending should´ve connected better to the alien movies. And Alien-Covenant should´ve never been made. In Alien 1 the engineer is fossilised meaning he´s been dead a long long time. Ancient. It makes no sence that David could´ve created the xenomorph.

The plastic sound as the engineer touches David is purposefully loud, it's as if he's saying "your creation is artificial and not real life, we are not the same. To create requires sacrifice."
