Is it possible to have the resin stick TOO much to the build plate if you use too thin of a paper?

2 year old vid an this is still a thing! I printed some simple things for test out my new Gktwo an all were fine...time to do something complex...bääm. Extremly weird structures, two parts only had the raft printed, no sign of supports. Totally not understandable from my perspective....till i run by accident over this vid! Did as he said and checked the files in meshmixer and 3dbuilder, exactly the same failures as shown! Now i repaird the file an try again....i will comment after.

As expected...ive only done the steps mentioned in this vid and all objects on the plate printed fine! WTF is wrong with this softwares??? And its STILL a thing after 2 years...

Thanks for the info. Id imagine the difference in times between printers would be attributed to acceleration. Some printers will accelerate the build plate faster than others because their motors have more torque. That time might also be affected by the amount of resin currently attached to the build plate, since greater mass takes longer to accelerate. (?)

I spend 60 bucks on beer, a custom made figure I don't have to buy a whole painting kit for doesn't seem that bad. the market is to what you know. You print your own minis and have a painting studio this product is not marketed to you

Since this is old maybe you have found that you can simply use the elephant foot compensation in something like UVTools.

3D resin is like diarrhea, One day I had a bad case of diarrhea and no sooner than I cleaned up after taking a shower It hit me again so I was sitting there on the toilet and there was no Toilet paper So I reached over and grabbed a bath towel to clean myself off and mistakenly left it on the counter Then my wife came in and washed her face and grabbed the towel I used to dry her face off with, The next thing is I had it on me she had it on her face and it was everywhere Then she started to scream the dog came in and grabbed the towel and thought it was playtime and ran through the house with the towel and had it everywhere, it was on the carpet it was on the kids it was on the couch, Then the doorbell rang it was my father in law greeting me for father's Day and no sooner he got halfway in He shook my hand and said Happy Fathers Day and I had it all over him because I had it on my hands that's why I say 3D resin is like diarrhea because it gets everywhere, We now have a emergency cabinet filled with one roll of paper towels a pair of rubber gloves and a air filtered face mask And some pepto bismol

I’ve found that on smaller to medium sized models in the action figure range that using your light support settings with a density percentage at 70%, makes using auto supports a breeze. Just printed a file cabinet drawer for a file cabinet model I’m working on in the 90’s action figure scale and it came out next to perfect. Very minimal scarring if any, they look like normal layer lines that you would expect and after painting they will be non existent. Thanks for this update video by the way. Dennys wang just made a similar video diving into auto supports and the way they are now it almost had it exactly how he would have done it manually, with a few exceptions like you said, still had to add and delete a few supports manually but it takes away hours of you having to fudge around with supports. Thanks god bless

Using Saturn S and increased to 10 bottom layers at 30 seconds based on advice from reddit. Changing it to 5 bottom layers and 18.30 (6x the 3.05 exposure time). If it doesn't work, I'll complain :D

Just leaving this here for if anyone encounters the same issue. If there's a small gap in your model where there is nothing for that entire layer, or for a couple layers. Island detection does not see it as an unsupported island so it doesn't give you an error. Basically, if it's a big model, make sure to scroll through the layers to avoid an expensive fail.

I had to laugh, definitely had a day like that. While I got you, I need some help. I’m using Chitubox Basic 2.1 and copied your (insane) settings but I’m getting prints that need repair. Can you do a video showing those settings, please!

Hi there! slicing model with Lychee version 6.0 Beta and still getting the same problem. Is exporting every piece as an stl then repairing them with a 3D builder the only way to avoid that?

Dont know who you are on you tube but the way you are speaking about the minis being badly done and painted by a 8 years old, and that you ca do better, i would like to pay you the same price and se you 3D print the mini pain it exactly to what i say, no argue about you dont have that payint or cant do it. Just do what i say as i does on Hero Forged website and you do all that for the same price we can talk but until that..........................

How do I fix complete layer separation? My last 4 prints have layer separation so bad each print is covered in hair thin cured resin and bad, multiple layers of it. Been chasing exposure settings for months with no advancements, and I can’t keep spending upwards of $300 a month just to get $5 worth of junk. Please help

So the onboard test works for me. But my resin isnt curing. At all. I replaced my fep, probably installed too tight. I know my resin is good, it cures in a few seconds outside. Could my lcd be too dim? Wouldnt it still cause some level of curing though?

tldw all three are around the same ish; Chit, prusa, lychee does auto supports better in that order but not by much. they all miss some supports so manual checking is required. recommend using UVtools to check for islands after. and again, some manual checking required afterwards.

Wanted to mention something that you did not cover (or probably do not know). In Lychee, at least the pro version, when you change the layer height in the resin settings to 10 micron, it will detect even more islands with island detection and be more precise with the tip placement and you will have very few islands marked in UV Tools

can this also happen when the supports are becoming one huge trunk? i’ve had 3 failed prints in a row where i’m printing a body and the supports by the legs look like i have 4 legs . they’re all clumped and solid like if it was part of the original print.

i am processing around 10 (Liter) bottles of resin every week and know exactly what you are talking about, this stuff is evil and there are days it makes you want to smash all equipment against the wall and run away from it. these are the rare moments i start preferring FDM printing over resin, but at the end of day it´s the same crap just with different problems ;)

I've found UVTools to be a little off at present as is identifying islands that are supported and most oddly, identifying "islands" on the top of areas.

Yeah I f***ing hate resin, hopefully the next big breakthrough in resin 3D printers is in resin maintenance. It would be great if there was just a tank to fill and have the printer automatically agitate the resin to mix it before printing, drain the vat after printing (not sure how, maybe a syphon valve in the vat?). Maybe using magnetic attachments for the vat and printing head to minimise manual screw clamps. Sometimes I think what I need is an isolation chamber like in science labs in the movies where you've got like a big glass tank with gloves built into holes in the side of the tank so you can work on the inside without any chance of contaminating the environment. But you still need to get things in and out of it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My dad passed away from a heart attack on May 10, 2020 (Worst Mother's day ever, IMO and I'm not even a mom). It would have been fine if you never returned to teaching after the life-changing experience of losing a parent.... but welcome back to teaching and sharing your experience with us now that you've found your way to the other side of the deep well of grief that such a loss imposes on us. So thank you for continuing to share, that was a choice that you had to make, and IMO it speaks to your values/character.
