I have a 3 year old mal. Can take him anywhere and he walks around confident with his chest puffed out. Does great with bite work and muzzle fighting. For some reason when larger people go to pet him he tucks his tail and pulls away. I could put that same person in a suit and he’d engage without question Any thoughts on this?.

I’ve had my dog for just over three years and she is almost as shut down as when I got her from rescue. Even a wonderful dog trainer has made little difference. It’s heartbreaking.

We took in a German Shepherd from the pound and had to teach her to be a dog. It took a lot of time and love but she turned into a great pet and member of the family.

2 Years ago I adopted a 6 years old over-reactiing beagle, and I have to say, I'm about to give up taking him for walks and just let him play in the backyard, which he also enjoys. EVERYTIME I take him for a walk, is a complete nightmare. It literally makes me sick, I get so stressed out to the point I get bad neck, shoulders and arms aches that last for a couple of days, And HORRIBLE headaches. I also have a 6 years old Corgi, I raised since he was 10 weeks old. I NEVER trained the corgi on anything, BUT he knows everything. He comes when we call his name. He always looks at me, waiting for me to tell him what to do, he even understand hand signs, and head shakes. Never trained the corgi on how to walk, and he is the best behave dog in walks, he doesn't heel but every few steps he always turns his head to check on me, or to "ask for permission " to stop to poop or pee. But I never taught him how to do anything. He is my second corgi, the first one, which I also raised from 8 wks, was even MORE focused than this second one. The previous corgi can go for walks without a leash and in every walk, with or without a leash, he completely ignored everything and everyone around, except me, he would ignore even the squirrels. But I almost never took him for walks without a leash because I knew not all dogs respect other dogs private spaces...like my "new" beagle... Anyways, I think certain breeds have in their genes that focus and working instinct, and know that they must follow the leader's instruction. And I think Corgis are one of them... at least the 2 corgis I had/have did/do.

Hit the nail on the head as expected. If only every dog breeder understood this. Especially in a breed like this it's absolutely horrible to see what kind of dogs people choose to breed. Anxious, nervous, shy... NO, that's not how this breed is supposed to be. Or any dog for that matter, no dog should be afraid to live!
@1packatak4 күн бұрын
@@svaisanen real Breeders do know. And they do things like neuro stimulation and proper socialization with their puppies. They don’t breed dogs who have physical or temperament issues. I have been lucky enough to own two of them from a Preservation breeder. It’s the GREEDERS that do this. All for a few bucks.

Mike's comment is exactly what people told us when my fiance & I were taking care of a *GENETICALLY* Anxious, Fearful German Shepherd. We fostered him for a while. For 7 months while I had this dog, 10 weeks to 9 months, I was told how its MY fault, how its a LACK of socialization. News fucking flash. He was literally born this way. "Its common for them to shut down when they go somewhere new with a stranger" - Ridiculous. My wellbred German Shepherd had zero issues with a single person in my family a day in his life. The foster GSD? At 12 weeks old we were visiting family for thanksgiving, he was freaking out at the end of the leash while people were 20 feet away. Genuinely insane. (No not in a reactive way, I am just not gonna sit here for half an hour and perfectly explain this dogs anxiety issues in a youtube comment) Granted, I have so much I need to learn as a handler to create a comfortable & balanced training environment for a dog like that, but the general point is... No.. That is NOT normal for any of these breeds. I hope Mike really evaluates his breeding stock & makes a good decision for the future of his "program"

Meh, maybe pair the shy girl with a Mal that's too much off the wall. I think she could compliment that single Mal family nicely by redirecting the energy.

Glad I watched the full thing, was also gunna say "clearly the dogs not abused" she looks healthy, just timid in a new place with someone who isnt her owner. Andy had to put in alot of work to get her to work on that confidence drive and then viola, the magic happens. Owners did a wonderful job, seeking someone professional to help. I've definetly seen 'seemingly' over confident dogs cow around new places/people, whilst acting like boisterous kings or queens at home.

Good morning! Quick question, awhile back you said you like to use a 2.25 pinch, I have a young GSD. Great pup, should I use the 2.25 even when he is grown? Thanks P.S. I had the Malinois with terrible genetics if you don’t remember?! It was a nightmare. Now I have a working GSD that is a great example of the breed! Came from a real breeder.
@moon_cat326 күн бұрын
yes! 2.25 works for basically every dog, and if it doesn't fit you can get another collar to make a longer one or just buy more links!!

I just adopted a 1 year old Belgian a few hours ago from a shelter (was a stray, he was in the shelter 3 weeks). He is very anxious and super clingy. Timber will not eat (even though we were told he's very trreat motivated), doesn't care about toys, just cares about staying right next to me. I'm happy I found your channel, this video in particular. I know it will take time and patience but I am excited to help him live his best life.
