I applaud you for raising your kids to experience the great wild outdoors. Some may think it’s dangerous for kids, but leaving them to play video games all day is dangerous in a different way.

I’ve sea kayaked in Alaska and around active glaciers. It’s difficult to tell exactly how close they are to the front of the glacier but if the calving had happened right in front of them, the resulting wave could have easily tipped them over into freezing cold water. They were lucky.

I occationally have the chance to see them fight it out mid air. Impressive creatures. Everybody knows, how fast and agile falcons are, but ravens are no slouches either, are smarter and work in groups.
