Nobody can replace Karen. That's for sure. However, Tori has a special place to honor Karen and others of the day. I most certainly welcome Tori and James contribution to the retrospective of a brilliant performer of American History.

I was a young man when the Carpenters released this. Karen's soulful voice and perfect pitch had an indescribable effect on me whenever I heard it. This was my favorite song sung by my favorite vocalist of all time. Fast forward a half century... We've all heard a lot of people perform old classics, almost always either doing their own "interpretation" or otherwise falling short of the original. It takes real talent to so faithfully replicate this song as Tory, James, et al did here. Like most of the other commenters here, I still prefer Karen's rendition, but Tory did a remarkable job of trying to replicate it. (How can you match, let alone improve upon perfection?) This is probably the best cover by a female vocalist that I have ever heard. Bravo, bravo, bravo! 🎉

Tori sounds just like Karen But when I close my eyes, I can tell who is Karen and who is Tori. Tori has a softer voice.

Karen was so rare. Now have the girl play the drums while singing and without all the fancy audio equipment. They did not have that stuff in Karens day. Still the young lady does have a beautiful voice.

The PROBLEM is...there are probably 10,000 women who can cover Karen Carpenter songs. There are also1000's of 18 year olds who can cover Eddy Van Halen guitar riffs. I just don't think there's a market for ballads today. Even if Karen were alive today...and she were 25 years old...I don't believe anyone would know her name. I mean, how would she compete with Taylor Swift, Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Pink???

You are reminded just how great a singer Karen Carpenter was when after 42 years of being gone from this world several Karen Carpenter dress up impersonators are working today.. the list includes Sally Olson, Chloe Foston, Toni Lee, Debbie Taylor, and The Karen Carpenter Tribute Band featuring Rebecca Hardiman but although Tori Holub doesn't dress up like Karen she sounds more like Karen than anyone I have ever heard

"The first is always the best" syndrome. To a lot of older people, no one is ever better than the original. This is often not the case, but they will never give up their grip on nostalgia. For instance, I loved the band Chicago, but I believe the cover of '25 or 6 to 4' by Leonid & Friends is actually better. These are people who probably think vinyl sounds better than digital; they are living in a dream world. Am I the only one who noticed that they got the text reversed when they showed both the original and the cover at the same time?

Tori is beautiful, contemporary, and did this song justice. Karen would love it.

This really points out that they are not the same. They are singing in the same key, and both voices are great, but there are differences. Karen is much clearer and Tori is much softer in her tone.

I listened to this with my eyes closed and had someone tell me if I was right or wrong choosing Karen. It was very easy to tell Karen’s voice as I was right every time the video went between the two. Maybe because I’m older and grew up knowing Karen’s voice?? The younger girl is smooth, but deeper than Karen.
