Hi Paul, enjoyed the video and very informative. Which solar panel cables did you buy off Amazon?
@HulaViking
@HulaViking 27 күн бұрын
@coolhandluke5332 MP4 cables. 10 gauge for a run of 50 feet, 8 gauge for run of over 50 feet. That is just a rule of thumb. The longer the cable and the thinner the cable the more voltage drop there will be.

I have been running my generator for 8 hours straight and it's giving me a damn headache. Please advise what battery will give me a 50 amp 240v service to back feed my panel like I am doing now? Generator is a 5500 watt continuous output.
@HulaViking
@HulaViking 2 ай бұрын
@plywood76 suggest looking at Ecoflow website. Also on Facebook there are a number of active groups on Ecoflow and Ecoflow Delta. You might also look for videos of people who did whole home battery backup via transfer switch.
@stevelacombe5291
@stevelacombe5291 2 ай бұрын
You would not need 5500 watt continuous output with a battery/solar setup. You need to figure out what your daily kilowatt usage is and go from there. Some of these, you can pair up to get 240v.

What are the dimensions of your base? 8'x4'? I'm thinking the panels should have a space between each (maybe a couple of inches) for air flow to reduce the risk of them becoming sails in a strong gust of wind. Any trouble that way for you? What was your cost for the aluminum mounting brackets?
@HulaViking
@HulaViking 5 ай бұрын
Roughly 8x4. The panels are heavier than they look. I could lay them flat if I needed to. Bought struts off the shelf at Home Depot.

@@HulaViking My panels weigh 47 lbs each and are roughly 4'x6' 400w, so I can only do 2 panels on a frame similar to this. I was thinking 4x8' for my base hoping it would be substantial enough.

The Smart Home Panel was installed by an electrician who got the necessary permits. I know my limits, not going to touch anything inside the house circuit panel. I did a DIY on the solar panels. Lots of good resources out there.

I know the OG Delta pros sold at Costco were only capable of 1200w solar input. After the original ones they upped it to 1600. Maybe that carries over on AC as well. Interested in if it did any better warm.

Looking good! I bought 2 Delta Pros, one with the xmas special that included the Smart Panel, 220w solar panel and wagon. I wanted to connect both Deltas to the Smart Panel, but no one has the Infinity cable. I also see Home Depot has the Delta Smart Generator on special for $1100. But for that price one can buy a 12kw dual fuel as well. So $1100 for 1800w, on demand convenience or a 12kw 220v manual switch generator. I could connect both Delta pros together with the battery cable, but I think the Infinity cable is the way to go for better control. I'm still researching, but for now I'll install one Delta Pro to the Smart panel. Thanks for the video!

Less power on the ground. Inverse square law. Instead of 93 million miles, the panels are 93 million miles and about 15 feet. See ? LOL !!!! 🙂 It's amazing how many people assume that the "need" to be on the roof. Well, maybe they have very small yards...

I had panels on my roof. I found that water cascading off of them during heavy rain was damaging the shingles below them on the roof. When it was time to reshingle, I removed and replaced my original panels with more larger units but now placed on the ground on wooden 4 x 4 frames. No more roof perforations, no scraping the ice from them perilously perched on the roof and much easier to check voltage and output. Additionally, I was able to point half of the new array southeast and the other half southwest giving me complete solar coverage over the day. So if you have the space, on the ground is the best IMO.

How do you have the panels hooked up to your home? Do you need an inverter, and did you need to do anything with the power company? From what I understand, they don't always like back feeding.
