"E=mc2: A Biography of the World's Most Famous Equation" by David Bodanis is an excellent book that this English Lit. major found engaging and very informative. Einstein didn't just wake up one morning and say, okay, time for me to discover the true nature of energy and matter. Bodanis does an amazing job in describing how other great scientists provided the building blocks that Einstein used when he finally put pen to paper in 1905 and thereby changed the world forever. Very highly recommended!

I’m 2 years late but I just watched your video on your experience in the foundation year and now I’ve just seen this and you have a PHD offer in physics. God, you are truly an inspiration wow man. It just shows how hard work can open doors.

You’re so inspiring!! I’m doing nursing but I miss science soooo much like pure science. I’m planning to save up entirely to afford a second degree in medicinal chemistry. It’ll be really hard and it’s a lot of money but it’s hard to get degrees right first time !

I'm a little late on the video, but, I like your perspective😊. Learning is a curve: there are ups and downs, at times, periods of doubt. In the end, all these experiences serve to make you sharper where thinking is concerned. I came here via a video you did on science books you've read. I appreciate that too👍🖐

Hannah run from physics as fast as you can. Do not waste your life on it as so many have.

Do not pursue a career in physics. Most likely you will waste your life chasing theoretical ghosts only to discover late in life that you wasted your time on earth. Sad that so many "smart" people have their abilities squandered by a pathless pointless pursuit. Best case scenario you discover nothing new, worst case scenario you discover something and it is weaponized by the warpigs.

Hi, I am about to get my foundation year results in July. I want to go to another uni and need a MPP to get into Sheffield Hallam. I was just wondering what was included in your results letter? Was it a percentage or merit/ pass etc? Thanks!! Congrats btw🥰

Have you been transferred to another university? Let me know a little about the transfer process for you. I'm early in the foundation year and I want to go to another university as well

@@ldetonimacedo Hi, yes i moved from winchester and now im in sheffield :) Basically you have to apply as normal through ucas now before the jan deadline and then complete your foundation year, providing you get the grades you have to send them over to your new uni that you want to go to and they'll accept you. Once youve been accepted you have to ask for a form from your current uni that basically confirms your withdrawal from the uni and then its all done and you organise accomodation etc as normal :) When i got my grades sheffield hallam didnt accept the transcript originally so i had to ask winchester to confirm that they are my final grades in writting. As soon as i sent over the evidence to sheffield they accepted my grades and my place was confirmed :) I hope this helped! Goodluck x

Congratulations. I'm from Portugal (30 years old) and I am currently studying at University in London as a student/part-time worker. I also had a diploma from Portugal but it wasn't a proper university degree. I hope I get where you are now and I dream one day to start my Phd too! I am very happy you did it ;) Thanks for showing us its possible.

Perhaps this is too late a comment and you won't read this but. Is there any chance you went for the Engineering and Physical Sciences H100 Foundation at Nottingham? I actually applied to this course at Nottingham in January as a 23 year old mature student to go on to do a Computer Science degree following work experience in a civil engineering company. If that's the case that's a hell of a coincidence because you're the first video I opened, alsoa mature student, also at the same University and also studying for the same course. If so and you read this I'd love to discuss more and have a load of questions perhaps there's a way to contact you?

Physics is hard:) It is really for super-interested or for supersmart. But for me was the same with Chemistry. In school I wasn't interested well but since I learned it for med university mature journey, started to like it too. So just more time is required for these hard subjects...aguess

Hi Hannah, I have always had a pre- conceived idea that I can't do maths! I'm a mature student (36) and 2 years ago quit my job and went back to uni full time to study Psychology with Foundation. I received an E or F in maths when I was 15! Sat it again 3 years ago and failed again (didn't put enough time in to it as was also doing an access to science course)! But managed to pass my maths module (alternative to GCSE) in Foundation Year! I put in many hours - never thought I could do it! Now I'm looking at retaking my GCSE next year! Thank you for the videos - very inspiring and you have given me maths confidence !!!

That has been my dream since a young age, becoming a physicist always looking up to people like Steven Hawkings. Schools take you on trips to Oxford, Cambridge and top universities but never guide you and tell you how much work you need to put in to get to that place. It hurts that I wasted so many years of school pissing my free education away, not knowing how to get to a top university; I had nothing to aim for . None of my parents went to university and it seems that schools assume that you know how to get to university and assume you understand the importance of your GCSES, etc. Good luck to you!
